Sunny hadn't expected Luna to show up in person.
She led Luna into a cozy café, but her patience was thin. "Are you sure you're in the right place, little sis?"
Luna shook her head, her voice urgent. "No, Sunny, I'm here for you!"
"I'm sorry to bother you," Luna continued quickly. "It's just… you didn't go to the hospital yesterday, and I don't know what my dad said to Tristan, but he seemed really upset afterward."
Sunny regarded Luna coolly. Those wide, innocent, doe-like eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and she watched Sunny with a nervous hopefulness.
Eyes like that could make any man want to play the hero.
Sunny arched an eyebrow. "So what?"
Luna bit her lip, gathering her courage. "Sunny, if you're still angry with Tristan because of me—or my brother—I'll apologize. I'll do whatever you want, just please forgive Tristan."
Sunny barely glanced at her as she lifted her coffee, blew on it, and took a slow sip. "And if I don't want to forgive him? If I don't, shouldn't that make you happy?"
Luna's eyes filled with tears. "No, Sunny! How could you think that? No one in our family wants you to marry Tristan more than I do. You've really got me wrong."
Sunny set her cup down with a decisive clink. "Alright, enough. Don't waste your time on me. I like coffee, not herbal tea. Save your sweet-talking for Tristan—he might enjoy it."
"I'm not him. If you talk to me like that, I just find you annoying."
Sunny was about to get up when, out of nowhere, a figure lunged from behind and grabbed her coffee cup, hurling its contents at her.
"Sunny! Who talks to people like that? How can you be so mean?" Chloe's voice rang out, fierce and indignant, as she leapt to defend her best friend.
The scalding coffee splashed all over Sunny's chest. She gasped sharply, the pain making her inhale through her teeth.
Her blouse was soaked, and hot coffee streaked her neck, turning her fair skin an angry red.
A barista rushed over. "Ma'am, are you alright?"
"So you want to tattle, huh?" Sunny said, picking up the cup of hot water and, with a swift motion, flung it right at both of them.
"Here's some proof for you. Make sure you tell him everything!"
She watched with satisfaction as angry red splotches bloomed across their exposed collarbones, then grabbed her purse and strode out without looking back.
"Aaah!" Chloe shrieked, clutching her chest. "Sunny, are you crazy? You just threw water at us!"
But Sunny was already gone, leaving Chloe's outburst hanging in the air.
Chloe had gotten the worst of it—most of the water had hit her, while Luna's skin was only barely splashed.
Luna glanced sideways, her eyes glinting. "Wow, Chloe, your sister sure knows how to handle herself."
"She's not clever—she's just a witch!" Chloe's voice trembled with fury and pain as her collarbone burned. "Luna, do you think I'll be left with a scar?"
