Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 74

He made no attempt to hide his ambitions as he laid them out before his eldest daughter.

If she was willing to marry into the Lawson family without complaint, so much the better.

But if she dared say no again, he'd have ten bodyguards tie her up if he had to—she was going to walk down that aisle tomorrow, one way or another.

Sunny gave a cold, sharp laugh. "Fine. Since you're asking for my help, I'll go."

The word "help" pricked at Sean's pride, but he swallowed his irritation.

"All right, let's say I'm asking you."

"I'll go tomorrow. But I'll meet you directly at the church. The rest is none of your business."

Sean paused, then nodded. "Fine. If you don't want the whole wedding procession, I'll let the Lawsons know."

The wedding procession was just for show; the ceremony itself was all that mattered.

Stellan arrived at the hospital only to learn they had just left.

He asked a few questions of the doctor, then peered through the glass at the old woman lying motionless on the bed.

Just days ago he'd seen her, full of life. Now she was pale and still, tubes and wires everywhere.

Standing outside the hospital room, Stellan pulled out his phone and called his niece.

"Has anyone been to the old house these past few days?"

"No, Uncle Stellan. What's going on?"

"I see. That's all."

Stellan hung up without another word, eyes lowered in deep thought.

Was she really going to go through with this marriage?

And hadn't he heard she'd been hurt in a car accident?

Frustrated, he tugged at his tie, tempted to go straight to her apartment and demand what she was thinking.

But he knew he couldn't. He was her uncle—at least in name. As long as she stayed engaged, that's all he could be.

Relieved by her husband's answer, Grace finally relaxed.

She hesitated, then asked, "And what about the wedding tomorrow? Is Sunny going?"

"She is!" Sean broke into a satisfied grin. "At least she has some sense of decency."

"If she refused, I'd drag her there myself. But she's agreed to skip the whole wedding procession. Get some sleep tonight—we'll head to the hotel at ten."

Grace frowned. No wedding procession?

Something about it bothered her, and a quiet doubt formed in her mind.

Would Sunny really show up tomorrow?

At ten that evening, Zara finally got a message from her friend.

"Sunny, where have you been all day?"

"Zara, I need your help with something tomorrow. Can I count on you?"
