Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 75

On the day of the wedding, Tristan was dressed in a sharp black suit, his hair perfectly styled, his expression distant—though if you looked closely, there was a barely perceptible glimmer of delight in his eyes.

After all, a wedding is supposed to be a joyous occasion for anyone.

Still, he couldn't help feeling a bit dissatisfied—why had they skipped such a vital part of the ceremony, the one that officially joined the two families?

Luna stood nearby in a pure white gown, her makeup subtle and innocent. She gazed at the reflection of her brother in the mirror, momentarily lost in thought.

"You look amazing today, Tristan," she said softly.

He turned, raising an eyebrow. "Silly girl, ‘amazing' isn't really how you describe a man."

Cheeks tinged pink, Luna stepped closer. "Well, I'm in white and you're in black. We look good together, don't we? Even as siblings."

Her voice was barely more than a whisper. For a moment, the sharp lines of Tristan's face softened.

"Of course we do. No one's a better match for me than you are. And stop overthinking things—even after I'm married, you'll always be the one I care for most."

Sweet words are the slowest-acting poison.

Luna had heard her brother utter many beautiful things before, but today he was marrying someone else. She wondered if, when he was alone with another woman, those same seductive lips would speak the same sweet nothings.

And with the old lady so ill, did Sunny really have the heart to go through with the wedding?

Luna had miscalculated—she never thought Sunny would be this ruthless. The lengths she'd gone to marry into the Lawson family were astonishing. Just a few days ago, Sunny had talked about calling off the engagement. Luna had almost started to respect her for it.

But now? She realized she'd been giving Sunny too much credit.

Luna tried to tamp down her jealousy. "Tristan, what time are we leaving? Can I ride with you in your car today?"

His car was the lead wedding car—traditionally reserved for the bride and groom.

Luna's eyes glistened as she looked at him, soft and pleading.

He gave in, his voice rough but gentle. "Alright. We'll go to the church together."

Magnus, watching his son and daughter climb into the same car, seemed about to protest. But his wife, Annabelle, stopped him. "It's fine. The maid of honor can ride in the lead car, too. Besides, Luna's his sister. It's not a big deal."

Magnus could only drop the matter.

Meanwhile, Zara had insisted on riding with her grandfather. She'd promised her best friend to stay by the old man's side all day. She clutched a bottle of heart pills, ready to slip a couple into his mouth if he started looking unwell.

The night before, Zara had tried to pry Sunny's real plan out of her. She'd always known Sunny was determined to end the engagement, but Sunny played her cards so close to her chest that even Zara was in the dark.

Zara fumed silently—once today was over, she was definitely going to have words with her bestie.

At the wedding venue, Chloe spotted her best friend in the crowd instantly.

"Luna, you look stunning today!"

Luna smiled. "You too, Chloe."

[Uncle Stellan, aren't you coming today?]

He stared at the screen, unmoving.

[Are you going in? Are you really going to attend their wedding?]

Stellan closed his eyes, leaning back in the seat, remaining still for a long, long time.

Finally, Parker, unable to bear the silence, spoke up. "Mr. Stellan, should I park in the shade? This spot's getting pretty hot."

Stellan lifted his gaze, his look as intense as ever. "Just drive to the parking lot. If I need the car, I'll call you."

His deep, commanding voice left no room for argument. He pushed open the door, unfolded his long legs, and strode toward the reception hall.

With just twenty minutes to noon, if the ceremony didn't start soon, the guests would start gossiping.

In fact, whispers were already spreading through the crowd.

"What's going on? The bride hasn't even shown her face yet."

"Who knows. I heard Miss Carrington was always chasing after Mr. Lawson. She wouldn't actually ditch him at the altar, would she?"

But in everyone's mind, the odds of Sunny actually running away seemed almost impossible.
