Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 96

Sunny deleted the text but still found herself face-to-face with one of Sean's people waiting for her outside the office building.

Xander eyed the well-dressed, cultured man with curiosity. "Sunny, is that your dad?"

She gave a quick nod. "Yeah. Xander, go on up first, will you? Let the boss know I'll be a bit late."

Without waiting for a reply, she walked calmly toward Sean's car.

"Sunny, did you get my messages?"

She gave a slight, cool smile. "I saw them. Deleted them, too."

"You—!" Sean's anger flared instantly.

"You're getting more and more disrespectful these days. You ignore your own father's messages now?"

Sunny let out a soft scoff. "So what if it's from my dad? Your wife drugged me and tried to set me up with her nephew—he was supposed to assault me. And as for my dad, meaning you, all you care about is keeping the peace in the family."

She met his eyes, voice crisp with indignation. "Even if I had the patience of a saint, I couldn't swallow this insult. Why should I drop the charges?"

Sean's brow furrowed; he clearly didn't know the whole story. His daughter's and wife's accounts didn't match up at all.

"You were drugged? Ms. Quinn isn't that kind of woman. Are you sure you're not mistaken?"

"Mistaken? The last time, she drugged me and had me dragged into a car, locked me in a room. Now suddenly she's ‘not that kind of person'?"

She paused, gaze sharp. "Or do you already know, Dad? Are you deliberately covering for her?"

Sean snapped, lowering his voice. "Nonsense! She only told me she wanted you two to meet. How was I supposed to know?"

"I still think this is all a misunderstanding. At worst, her nephew should apologize to you. We're family."

A cold anger surged through Sunny, and her voice iced over. "You'd rather trust a stranger than your own daughter. Is that it?"

Sean shook his head, unwilling to accept her words. "Ms. Quinn isn't a stranger. She's my wife of over twenty years, the woman who shares my bed!"

"Officer, I already told you—I didn't drug her!"

"Then how do you explain this doctor's report? She had injuries, and traces of a strong sedative were found in her system. You also just happened to barge into the women's restroom. Was it harassment, or were you attempting rape?"

Ryan Quinn's face went pale.

"Officer, I swear, I wasn't trying to rape anyone! I never touched her! I didn't give her any drugs!"

"Oh? Then how do you explain this convenient coincidence? If you can't clarify, you're not going anywhere."

With just a bit of pressure, Ryan broke. "It wasn't me, I swear, it was my aunt! How was I supposed to know she'd go this far?"

The whole thing was caught on camera.

What Ryan didn't notice was the single-sided glass in the interrogation room. On the other side, Stellan watched him in icy silence, his gaze cold and unyielding.
