Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 114

After hashing out the last details of her divorce with Nathan Parker, Camila Davis finally hung up the phone. She set it aside, her mind quickly shifting gears.

Alright, where to start…

If she wanted to figure out Jordan Smith’s whereabouts, the best bet was to get her hands on footage from his dashcam. He never left home without one of his signature rides—always the same handful of flashy cars. But getting hold of that footage wasn’t going to be easy. Not now, when things between them were so tense. She’d have to look for the perfect moment.

And when it came to Sandra Taylor, Jordan was always careful. If they were together, it was behind closed doors. Outside, he kept up appearances. That made things even trickier.

Still, Camila mapped out her plan. She wasn’t the type to give up just because things got complicated.

With that sorted, she turned her attention to her next goals: getting Lillian back on her feet as soon as possible, and getting her own career back on track.

She wondered how things were going with Walter Wilson and the new lab. Had it been finished yet?

Curious, Camila decided to call him.

Walter picked up right away. “I was just about to call you, actually! The lab’s almost done—way ahead of schedule. We thought some of the equipment could only be imported, but it turns out there are local suppliers who can do the job just as well, and much faster. Quality’s top-notch too.

And we’ve already started sorting through resumes for the new research team. Interviews are coming up soon—I’d really like you to be involved. You know how important it is to get the right people.”

Walter knew Camila well; she was all about efficiency, and she never compromised on the quality of her team.

“When are the interviews?” she asked.

“Two-thirty this afternoon,” Walter replied.

“Perfect,” Camila said crisply.

That afternoon, at 1:30, Camila arrived early at The Wilson Group building to prep for the interviews.

She stepped into the lobby, surprised to spot Walter waiting for her by the elevator. He looked unusually sharp in a silver-gray suit—less of the usual devil-may-care, more James Bond today.

“Waiting for me?” Camila greeted him as she walked up.
