Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 157

His gaze was piercing, almost as if he could see right through people. He said, “Before Lillian started at this school, she was in a pretty bad place. My assessment is that she’s been suffering from long-term emotional suppression. As a psychologist, that’s the most basic thing to recognize. If you can’t even see that, how can you so shamelessly claim you’re the one who ‘cured’ her?”

“And another thing—prescribing sedatives? No real psychologist would do that as a first line of defense…”

“I have good reason to believe you not only failed to help her, but you might have even caused her harm.”

He paused, his tone suddenly almost casual. “You say you’re a professional? Mind telling us where you got your degree?”

The question sounded routine, but for some reason, Nora Lewis felt a pressure in the air, like an ax hanging over her head.

She frowned, unsettled. This guy had to be a teacher here too, so why did he feel so intimidating?

Despite her confusion, she straightened up and replied, “I graduated from Kingswood University in England. Why?”

“You’re sure about that?” Dennis Williams asked, his voice cool and steady.

Nora puffed up her chest, indignant. “What are you getting at? You think I’d lie about something like that?”

“We’ll see about that soon enough,” Dennis replied quietly.

With that, he pulled out his phone and made an international call.

A few minutes later, he narrowed his eyes. “I just spoke to Kingswood University. They checked all their psychology graduates. There’s no record of you ever attending. So, did you lie, or did you buy a fake diploma?”

The room froze. Both Camila Davis and Nora Lewis stared in shock.

What?

She’s a fake?

Nora Lewis’s mind raced. That’s impossible! There’s no way this guy could actually contact Kingswood University and get that information…

“You’re talking nonsense!” she blurted, voice louder than she intended. “You think just making a phone call gives you the right to slander me?”

Dennis calmly pocketed his phone and turned to Larry Adams. “Call the police. We have reason to believe she’s been practicing without a license and may have harmed patients. The authorities need to handle this.”

Larry never expected things to turn out this way, but he trusted his friend’s judgment. Without hesitation, he pulled out his phone and dialed 911.
