Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 165

“Thanks to Mr. Smith, she could’ve gotten better much sooner. But then she ran into Nora Lewis, and that’s why her recovery got delayed!”

Her tone dripped with sarcasm.

Jordan Smith was already simmering with anger, and that jab just pushed him over the edge. His face darkened.

He shot a cold, hard look at Camila Davis. “Oh, really? And which world-class therapist did you find for her? Care to share with the group?”

Camila Davis shot back, “Is that even necessary? It’s not like you actually care. All you need to know is that she’s getting better. As for who I hired, that’s none of your business.”

Jordan’s patience was wearing thin. When did the woman who used to be so meek around him suddenly grow a spine?

Who gave her the guts—was it that guy from earlier today?

He glared at her, his voice sharp. “Camila, are you really seeing a therapist for Lillian, or are you just busy finding yourself a new man? You really think I don’t know what’s going on?”

Camila froze for a second, then actually laughed at how ridiculous he sounded.

Here was a man who spent all his time shacking up with his mistress, daring to accuse her of cheating without a shred of proof.

Did he think everyone was as shameless as he was?

Fury flashed across Camila’s face, but she wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of an explanation. “Jordan, maybe take a look in the mirror before you start pointing fingers. Who’s the one sneaking around with Sandra Taylor every night? Honestly, you’re the last person who should be questioning me.

And even if I am seeing someone else—so what? If you’re that upset, just sign the divorce papers already. Or, we can both just live our own lives. You can’t have your cake and eat it too, you know.”

That last comment hit Jordan right where it hurt.

His face turned a whole new shade of angry, practically seething.

But Camila was done with the conversation. “If you’re not here for Lillian, then please just go. Don’t show up out of the blue, pretending to be some doting dad. She doesn’t need your fake concern.”

With that, she turned to head back toward their townhouse.

“Stop right there!” Jordan barked, reaching out to grab her wrist.

The moment he touched her, Camila felt a wave of nausea. She jerked away. “Don’t touch me!”

Her face twisted in pure disgust.

Jordan was caught off guard by her reaction, frozen for a second, hand still in the air.
