Lillian had been in high spirits all day, ever since Dennis Williams helped her out yesterday. This morning, she dragged her grandparents to watch *Finding Nemo*, then rallied them around the kitchen table to draw all sorts of fish and seashells.
Lightning, the family’s golden retriever—clearly smarter than your average dog—wanted in on the action too. She trotted over with a crayon in her mouth and started doodling on a sheet of paper.
The end result didn’t really look like much, but it was enough to get Lillian’s grandparents giggling and totally engaged.
Jerry Davis even went so far as to sit Lightning on his lap and guide her paw, determined to teach the dog how to draw for real.
Camila Davis shook her head, grinning. At this rate, she thought, their dog was going to turn into some kind of genius.
She couldn’t resist filming a short video and sending it to Aaron: “Do you think Lightning will ever stop being just a dog?”
Aaron got the message while he was at work. He laughed out loud and immediately passed it over to Dennis.
Dennis just smiled, a rare twinkle in his usually serious eyes. He replied, “You never know!”
Camila wasn’t sure if that answer came from Aaron or Mr. Williams. Dennis always seemed so reserved and sophisticated—joking around just didn’t seem like his style.
Still, seeing her parents and grandparents back to their cheerful selves after last night’s drama was all she really wanted.
Just then, her phone buzzed. It was Walter Wilson. “Hey, the AI medical device system—the one we’ve been working on with The Smith Group—it’s finally up and running. Want to come check it out?”
Camila’s heart skipped a beat.
Hadn’t they only just talked about this a little while ago? Walter’s efficiency was honestly mind-blowing.
She didn’t hesitate for a second—she grabbed her jacket and headed out the door.
When she arrived at the new center, Walter was already waiting, looking as dapper as ever in his signature black suit. He always wore his shirt half-unbuttoned, giving him that effortlessly cool, sort-of-rogue billionaire vibe.
He led Camila through the facility, giving her the rundown. “Just like you asked, The Smith Group isn’t listed under The Wilson Group. We funneled it through an overseas branch. No one can trace it back to us.
Staff’s all hired—two of our best software engineers from The Wilson Group are on board. I slipped them onto the team myself.
