Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 232

It all happened way too fast—so fast, in fact, that not even Dennis Williams had time to react.

On sheer instinct, he threw out an arm to shield the person next to him.

“Sorry, Mr. Williams! That car just came out of nowhere. Nearly gave me a heart attack—”

Aaron, in the driver’s seat, was still shaken up and trying to explain.

But he didn’t even get a full sentence out. His words got caught in his throat as he glanced at the rearview mirror and saw… well, something he absolutely wasn’t expecting.

What he saw in the back seat was, to put it mildly, a little much.

Camila Davis was practically sprawled across the back seat, her soft frame nestled close against Mr. Williams’ chest, one hand pressed right on his thigh.

And Mr. Williams? He had an arm around her waist, holding her as if to shield her from the world.

The whole pose was… well, let’s just say it couldn’t get much more intimate.

Aaron: ????

What the hell just happened?

How did things go from zero to snuggle in the blink of an eye?

He’d known Dennis for years and had never seen a woman get this close to him—let alone stay there for more than a second.

Camila herself was even more flustered than Aaron.

She’d never in her wildest dreams imagined she’d end up in such a mortifying situation.

It all happened so quickly, but there was no denying she was pressed right up against Dennis Williams, and it was very, very real…

They were so close she could practically feel his heartbeat, the warmth from his chest, and the soft, almost ticklish brush of his breath against her ear.

That familiar scent of cedar cologne just surrounded her, making her head spin.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the worst part was that her face had smacked right into the space between his neck and collarbone. And her hand was still on his thigh.

She could feel the tension of his muscles through the fabric of his tailored pants.
