Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 249

"—Pull it down!"

Camila barely got the words out before the man in front of her had already whipped off his sweater in one smooth motion.

She froze, words sticking in her throat.

Right in front of her was Dennis Williams—shoulders broad, waist narrow, every muscle perfectly defined. His skin was the pale kind that made him look both untouchable and magnetic at the same time. Eight-pack abs, tense and sharp, radiated a kind of raw power and masculinity that hit her like a freight train.

"Like this?" he asked, tossing his sweater onto the couch, his voice deep and casual.

It was impossible not to notice how his usually buttoned-up, almost aristocratic demeanor clashed with the sheer sexual tension of the moment.

Camila forced herself to swallow and managed, "Yeah, that's perfect."

It really was easier this way.

She yanked her gaze away and got to work, prepping her equipment.

A few moments later, after quickly disinfecting the acupuncture needles, she grew serious. "This might hurt a little. Try to hang in there."

"Go for it," Dennis replied, flopping back onto the couch, his tone easy and a little teasing.

On the side, Aaron watched, eyebrows raised. This was... definitely something. The whole scene seemed to drip with an intensity that made his mind wander places it probably shouldn't.

Camila started inserting the long, thin needles, her hands fast and sure. Dennis, to his credit, barely flinched, though she could see his brow twitch when she hit an old injury on his shoulder.

Without even thinking, she leaned in and blew gently on the spot, trying to ease the sting.

The cool breath startled Dennis. His gaze darkened, locking on her with an intensity that made her heart skip.

It took her a second to realize what she’d done. She was so used to doing that for Lillian when she got hurt, it just happened automatically. Camila looked away, cheeks burning.

Dennis caught it—of course he did—and let a faint, knowing smile play at the corners of his mouth. "Doesn't hurt so much now."

He knew she was trying to comfort him like a kid, but he didn't call her out on it.

Her ears turned even redder. Would she ever stop embarrassing herself in front of this man?
