Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 261

“You’re claiming the formula isn’t my work? Got any proof?” Sandra Taylor snapped, her voice sharp as ice. “If I wasn’t the one behind it, how did Smith Pharmaceuticals ever release this medicine?”

She let out a short, bitter laugh. “Or are you trying to imply… what, that I stole your research?”

Camila Davis’s eyes narrowed, her expression frosty. “You know exactly where that formula came from. Don’t pretend otherwise.”

Jordan Smith couldn’t take it anymore. He stepped forward, glaring. “Camila, that’s enough. Stop twisting things and making wild accusations. This new drug was Sandra’s hard work, day and night. And besides, how could anyone at Smith Pharmaceuticals even get access to your so-called research? Face it—if you’re outmatched, just accept it and move on.”

Camila shot him a sardonic smile. “Sure, I admit it. Clearly, your sweetheart’s a genius. So tell me, why’s she resorting to sneaky, back-alley tricks? Jordan, are you in on this too? If you’re both pulling dirty stunts, I have to say—I’m pretty disappointed in you.”

Ignoring the shocked silence, Camila turned to address Mr. and Mrs. Reed, who stood by the parlor door, their faces tense. “Let me ask you one last time: are you absolutely sure you won’t let me in to help Mr. Wilson? There’s a problem with Smith Pharmaceuticals’ new medication—a flaw in the formula. It causes a reversal effect. At first, the patient seems fine, but after a while, their breathing crashes and their heart’s in danger. If you miss the critical treatment window, it’s game over.”

Gary Reed’s face paled, uncertainty flickering in his eyes. Still, Shirley Reed drew herself up, cold and dismissive. “We don’t need your help, Ms. Davis.”

Camila’s gaze went glacial. “Alright then. I hope you won’t regret this.”

She turned on her heel, pulling out her phone to call Dr. Williams and update him on the situation. Behind her, Sandra watched her leave with a smug, victorious smile. “Really, Camila? Think you can compete with me? Dream on.”
