Walter Wilson could practically feel the fire in Camila Davis’s voice burning right through the phone.
Sure, The Wilson Group’s lawyers were watching the situation closely, but The Smith Group’s legal team was always ready to slip through the cracks. And then there was The Taylor Family, always meddling and making things messier.
Walter already felt a little guilty about the whole mess, so when Camila demanded action, he wasn’t about to argue.
“Fine. I’ll take care of it. No more screw-ups, I promise.”
His usually laid-back eyes flashed cold for a split second. That Timothy guy loved taking the fall for other people? Well, maybe it was time he really got what was coming to him and spent some quality time behind bars.
And as for The Taylor Family… The Smiths might be tough to deal with, but the Taylors? Please. He was ready to handle them.
He hung up and got to work immediately.
Meanwhile, Camila Davis put her phone away, still fuming. She couldn’t even bring herself to eat, her appetite totally shot.
And, as if things couldn’t get any worse, Jordan Smith decided to call her from a new number.
His voice was full of smug authority. “Camila, it’s New Year’s Eve. I’m taking Lillian to The Smith Family dinner. Get her ready, I’ll pick her up soon.”
Camila laughed, the sound sharp. “Are you serious? You already brought Sandra Taylor back—why not have her and her son join you for your perfect little holiday dinner? Jordan, you just took a bite out of my team and now you want to play the doting father by taking my daughter, too? Who do you think you’re fooling?”
He went quiet for a second, then said, “This wasn’t Sandra’s idea. It was Timothy’s.”
Camila snorted. “You really think I’m that naive?”
She took a breath, voice icy. “Jordan, do you honestly think this is over? Enjoy your New Year while you can.”
