Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 367

At that moment, Sandra Taylor wanted nothing more than to kick down the door in front of her and storm right in with a whole squad behind her.

But—thankfully—a shred of common sense held her back. She couldn’t just do that.

This was about her chance to settle in with the Smith Family, and she wasn’t about to blow it by acting reckless. So, gritting her teeth, Sandra forced herself to wait.

If she couldn’t get in now, she was sure the doctor would show up at the local medical association’s event. Worst case, she’d just have to camp out at the conference and catch him there. No way someone with a reputation like the Miracle Doctor could turn her down in front of a whole crowd.

Meanwhile, Camila Davis was totally in the dark about all this. After leaving Mr. Morris’s office, she’d buried herself back in work at the lab.

That afternoon, the director of the Medical Bureau shot her a message with the agenda for next week’s big pharma event.

“Monday afternoon,” he told her. “First, there’s a medical seminar for people in the industry. Then, everyone’s heading to the Wilson Hotel for dinner and drinks.”

The director chuckled over the phone, “You know, you really have to thank Mr. Wilson for this. There’ll be a ton of people at the dinner, and I was stressing about how to pull it off—then he just swooped in and offered to host the whole thing.”

Camila wasn’t surprised. After all, Walter Wilson had just closed that huge deal in Cabinda. Now, his company was developing new medicine for the military, and funding was rolling in faster than ever. Helping out with a little dinner party was nothing for a guy like him.

After chatting a bit more, the call ended. Camila was about to put her phone away when Walter himself texted her with the same agenda.

She replied, “Already got it. The director just called me.”

“Good,” Walter wrote back. “Just a heads-up—the seminar on Monday? You’ll be on your own. I can’t make it, but I’ll be at the dinner. We’ll meet up at the hotel.”

“No problem!” she texted back. Camila didn’t mind at all.

Later that evening, Dennis Williams sent her a message: “Tomorrow we’ll start Lillian’s next round of treatment.”

Camila agreed right away. It was the weekend, so she could clear her schedule.

“Thank you, Mr. Williams,” she replied.

Dennis, as always, was right on time. Early the next morning, just after breakfast, he showed up to pick them up.

Little Lillian lit up when she saw him, running over with a big grin. “Uncle Dennis! Good morning!”

“Good morning, Lillian!” Dennis ruffled her hair with a warm smile.

Seeing her daughter so happy, Camila felt her own spirits lift. She greeted Dennis, and then the three of them headed out together.

As they settled into the car, Camila turned to Dennis, “So, what’s the plan for today?”

He grinned, keeping the details to himself. “First, I’m taking you to meet someone special.”
