When Sarah heard Camila wanted to invite her, she looked genuinely puzzled. “Why not take Mr. Williams? He’ll be with Lillian during her therapy anyway, and they’re doing all those outdoor sessions lately. Honestly, it’d make way more sense to give him the ticket.”

Sarah’s tone carried a hint of exasperation.

Thank goodness her best friend wasn’t actually trying to win Mr. Williams’ heart—if she were, this slow progress would probably give Sarah a heart attack!

Camila looked a bit sheepish. “Well, since I’m picking out a gift, it’d just feel sort of weird if he was there…”

Sarah thought, What’s so weird about that? Not giving it to him in person makes it sound like you’re planning a surprise or something.

She briefly considered giving Camila a nudge in the right direction, but in the end, she just grinned and let it go.

“All right, your call,” she said with a playful wink.

Honestly, Sarah thought Camila and Mr. Williams would be perfect together. He was a total catch: tall, handsome, successful, polite—the kind of guy you’d never expect to find in a place like this. Compared to Camila’s ex, Smith, Mr. Williams was in a whole different league.
