Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 90

Jordan Smith’s eyes darkened at the words.

He’d heard Sandra mention before that Camila Davis and Walter Wilson seemed unusually close, but he never expected Walter to actually bring Camila to an event like this.

And that platinum credit card? It actually belonged to Walter Wilson?

Lucas Smith and Sandra Taylor, standing beside him, were just as stunned—and judging by the looks on their faces, so were the other guests nearby.

“Wait, Mr. Wilson’s here too?”

“He just said Mrs. Smith is his business partner? So she didn’t just tag along after all.”

“If she’s Mr. Wilson’s partner, she must be seriously impressive.”

In Harrisburg, Walter Wilson was known for being a bit of a maverick—low-key, hard to get close to, but no one dared question his influence.

Camila Davis was already tired of the stuffy atmosphere. When she spotted Walter Wilson, she cut straight to the point. “You made it?”

“Yeah,” Walter replied with a nod, eyeing her with concern. “You okay?”

He’d just arrived, so he hadn’t caught what happened, but he could guess she’d had a rough time.

Camila shook her head, brushing it off. “No big deal. Just a couple of rabid dogs, not worth my time. Let’s stick to business and get this over with.”

Without sparing another glance at the people in front of her, she strode over to a quiet corner.

Walter hurried after her, not bothering to exchange barbs with Jordan Smith. “Sorry, I should’ve checked if they’d be here…”

“It’s not your fault,” Camila said, waving it off. She didn’t want to dwell on what just happened, and she certainly didn’t blame Walter. Even knowing Jordan and the others were here, she wouldn’t have turned down this opportunity.

Still, she wanted to get the work done and leave as soon as possible.

“So, tell me about the project we’re discussing tonight—before Ms. Harris arrives.”
