Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 91

Jessica Harris casually clicked open the file, skimming through its contents with practiced efficiency.

When she finished, she gave a firm nod. “This is a generous offer. Especially the price point—it’s very tempting. I’ll definitely give it top consideration, but, of course, the final decision is up to our board.”

“Of course,” Sandra Taylor replied smoothly, but inside, she was practically buzzing with excitement.

She was convinced—this deal was as good as hers. Ms. Harris’s satisfied expression was too genuine to be faked.

A little ways off, Camila Davis and Walter Wilson had both witnessed the exchange.

Camila frowned. “From the look on Ms. Harris’s face, it seems like she’s interested in working with The Smith Group. Does that mean we’re out of the running?”

Walter didn’t hesitate, “Your medication is second to none. It’s far from over, Camila. I believe in you. Why don’t you go over and pitch your proposal?”

Camila blinked in surprise. “You’re not coming with me?”

Walter gave her a sly smile. “You’re the brains behind this drug. If I go, I’d just be stealing your thunder. Besides, I’m curious to see if Jessica Harris is as sharp as they say.”

Camila rolled her eyes but didn’t argue. She grabbed her pitch folder and made her way toward Jessica Harris.

On the way, she crossed paths with Sandra Taylor, who had clearly been keeping a close eye on her. As Camila approached, Sandra leaned in, her voice low and smug. “Ms. Harris was very pleased with our proposal. Why bother trying so hard? Losing over and over can’t feel good, can it? When are you going to learn?”

Camila shot her a cool glance. “You talk a lot about winning and losing for someone who rides on the coattails of others. And don’t get too confident—the game isn’t over yet. Wouldn’t want you to embarrass yourself again.”

With that, Camila brushed past, heading straight for Jessica Harris.

Jessica always had a powerful presence, made even sharper by her short, no-nonsense haircut. Most people probably felt a little small in her orbit.

But Camila stood her ground, greeting Jessica politely before launching straight into her pitch.

Jessica took the proposal, flipping through it. But when her gaze landed on the pricing details for Camila’s medication brand, her expression tightened ever so slightly.

The price was… steep. Way higher than what she’d had in mind for this project.
