When Camila Davis read the message, she didn’t hesitate. “Lillian’s doing a bit better lately,” she typed quickly. “I wanted to ask—do you think it’s a good idea to send her to a special school? Will that affect her progress?”
On the other end, Aaron didn’t reply right away. Instead, he turned to consult the man beside him, who’d just finished a flurry of work.
Dennis Williams had been running on empty since returning to Cabinda, tackling emergency after emergency. He’d barely had a chance to catch his breath, and now, finally, he was slouched on the couch, rubbing the bridge of his nose with one hand and toying with his gold-rimmed glasses with the other.
When Aaron relayed the question, Dennis paused, eyes tired but thoughtful. After a few seconds, he looked up and said, “Yes, she can go. Give her Larry Adams’ contact info.”
Aaron blinked in surprise.
Larry Adams was Dennis’s childhood buddy—the kind of friend you share PB&J sandwiches with in grade school and stick together through college, even picking the same major. After graduation, Larry had gone to work at a special school founded by a former Hollywood actress, taking on the role of school counselor.
Dennis’s willingness to refer Lillian to Larry showed just how much he cared. Not everyone could get a personal recommendation from him!
Aaron got right to it, forwarding Camila the message: “Mr. Williams says Lillian can go!”
He included an address, the school’s name, and a cell number. “Mr. Adams is a close friend of Mr. Williams. He’s top-notch—really knows how to help kids like Lillian. Ms. Davis, you can take her over anytime.”
When Camila read the reply, she was floored.
Wasn’t that a coincidence? The school mentioned—Starlight Academy—was the same one her best friend had recommended just last week!
If Dennis Williams was vouching for it, there was no doubt—this place had to be the real deal.
Camila replied right away, “Please thank Mr. Williams for me, and thank you, Aaron. When you’re next in Harrisburg, I owe you both dinner. Don’t even try to get out of it!”
Aaron shot back a simple, “No need, happy to help.”
With that, the conversation ended.
