“What if it is?” he counters.

I reach up and hug my friend, my dear friend. “I hope you find your mate on your birthday.” I whisper

“I’m waiting to see how tonight goes for you,” he says.

I pull back and look at him. “You have someone in mind?”

He nods. “My Beta’s sister. We’ve always been friends. I’ve always treated her like a little sister, teasing her and harassing her. But when I returned from the Academy, her scent nearly brought me to my knees.”

“How old is she?” I ask.

“A couple weeks older than me. We celebrated her birthday and my return the same weekend.”

I smile. “I can’t wait to watch that unfold.”

He looks at his watch. “One minute. We need to get back.”

I nod, walking back into the room and my eyes nearly roll back in my head. His clean, foresty scent is stronger than ever, more compelling than anything I’ve ever smelled in my life.

My wolf begins purring and I hear him. I don’t even have to look to know it’s him.

“YES!” His growl is like the call of a Siren, drawing me to him.

I open my eyes and see that the people in the room have separated, making a path between us. I lock eyes with him.

“Mate,” I say, confidently and possessively.

“You’re damn fucking right I am,” he growls. Lorenzo steps away as Christian strides toward me, taking me in his arms, his mouth attaching to mine in a kiss that is not only the most possessive kiss we’ve ever shared, but it’s also somehow full of love, happiness, and the promise of a beautiful future together.

When we pull apart, our family, friends, and pack are all howling and clapping. I feel happy tears

“Not nearly as desperately as I was.” he says, kissing me again, then fucking me against him and turning to face everyone.

“Everyone! I’d like you to meet my mate, the birthday girl, Enya, the most amazing, incredible, and intelligent woman I’ve ever met.” He turns to look at me. “Happy birthday, my beautiful mate”

I smile happily and the two of us begin to make the rounds, getting congratulations from

everyone.

“Congratulations,” Shane says, pulling me away from Christian and into a hug. “I’m really happy for you. Christian is a great guy. I couldn’t have asked for a better mate for

you, sis.

“Thanks, Shane.” I say, hugging him tightly before turning to Sebastiana.

“YAY! You’re not just my bestie! Now you’re my sister!” she says, hugging me tightly.

We make our way around the room, saying hello to my friends, our pack members, and finally, we approach his parents.

“I’m so happy that I can finally call you daughter, Enya,” Alpha Christina says.

“Thank you. I’m so happy to be part of this family.”

“Congratulations to both of you, and welcome to the family, Enya,” Alpha Sebastian says.

“Thank you, sir,” I say.
