Ethan glanced at their faces and muttered under his breath, “Something about this doesn’t feel right…”

Noah frowned, deep in thought. “Seems like Dad isn’t the jealous one—Mr. Fitch is.”

Aiden’s voice was full of doubt. “Wait, does that mean Dad doesn’t actually like Mom?”

Evan’s expression was tense and serious. “I think it’s more like…”

The real reason Dylan hurried off was because he didn’t want his good buddy Fitch to get in any deeper.

It was obvious Raina wasn’t the settling-down type. Last time, she was all chummy with Michael, and now, barely any time had passed before she was flirting with Samuel.

Honestly, it was better not to let Fitch fall under her spell.

Fitch’s eyes were glued to Raina as she tended to Samuel’s injured arm. His jaw clenched and, unable to watch any longer, he spun around and stormed off.

If he stayed one more second, he knew he’d lose it and punch somebody.

But after a few steps, he realized Thomas wasn’t following him.

Back near the others, Thomas was still apologizing to Joyce. “Sorry, Ms. Gellar. Fitch was a little worked up just now—didn’t mean to offend you. Please don’t take it to heart.”

Joyce just shrugged, unfazed. “Don’t worry about it. I didn’t take anything he said personally.”

Thomas let out a breath. “Glad to hear it.”

Suddenly, Fitch’s voice bellowed from down the hall, “Thomas, are you coming or not?”

Thomas turned to Joyce. “Goodbye, Ms. Gellar.”

Joyce nodded politely.

Thomas caught up to Fitch a moment later.

As they walked, Fitch couldn’t help but press, “What were you talking about back there?”

Thomas replied coolly, “Nothing important.”

But Fitch narrowed his eyes, suspicious. “Thomas, when did you even meet that woman? You’ve never mentioned her to me before.”
