The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 383

Meanwhile, Dylan stood frozen for a few seconds, watching as Rebecca—of all people—walked straight toward Samuel in front of everyone. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing, especially when he caught the look in her eyes—so full of concern for Samuel.

Concern? Did he really see that right? Rebecca actually cared about Samuel?

Dylan narrowed his eyes, a flood of questions swirling in his mind. He absently touched the corner of his mouth, wincing at the sting. Did she not see that he, her boss, was hurt too?

As Dylan tried to make sense of it all, Fitch was already gritting his teeth in frustration.

“Why the hell is Rebecca worrying about Samuel? What’s so great about that guy? He just lost!” Fitch’s voice dripped with jealousy, unable to fathom why Rebecca would bother with Samuel at all.

Joyce, standing nearby, immediately bristled at his words. Always second best, always the loser—did Mr. Russell ever think before he spoke?

“Samuel’s amazing, that’s what! He’s good-looking, fit, and his personality is flawless,” Joyce shot back without hesitation, leaping to Samuel’s defense.

She genuinely thought Samuel was exceptional—Fitch had no right to belittle him.

Fitch clenched his jaw, muttering a curse under his breath. “Damn it, did Rebecca really just come here to see Samuel fight?”

The thought only made him crankier, and he turned to Dylan. “Looks like you went too easy on him earlier. Should’ve knocked Samuel out cold.”

Joyce’s temper flared. “What’s wrong with you?”

Fitch glared at her, frowning. “I’m talking about Samuel, why are you so worked up? Don’t tell me you like the guy, too?”

His tone was so sour, it was obvious he couldn’t stand the idea of anyone having feelings for Samuel.

Joyce’s face flushed, caught off guard. “Don’t be ridiculous!”
