“Ugh, this is so annoying! Why do we have to get dragged into this open class? I seriously don’t wanna go,” Tania grumbled as they walked.
Tania clutched her books to her chest, looking totally miserable about the whole thing.
Kayla was going over vocab words while half–listening to Tania complain. She gave her friend a helpless smile. “Open classes are supposed to be chill. What’s the big deal?”
Tania scoffed, “Yeah, they’re supposed to be chill, but we always end up stuck with Class A! They crush us in debates every single time, and we just sit there feeling like idiots. How’s that relaxing? Honestly, I’d rather go back and memorize vocab.”
Kayla bit her lip, remembering how these classes usually went.
Their open classes were always combined with Class A. The grade gap between the two classes was huge, so Class G always got demolished during debates. That was why nobody in Class G ever looked forward to these things.
But as much as they hated it, skipping wasn’t an option. If their homeroom teacher found out, she’d lose it on them.
Kayla felt a cold smile tug at her lips just thinking about Ravenna.
After the truth about those rumors came out, Kayla had expected Ravenna to keep her promise and apologize to her in front of everyone. But Ravenna didn’t apologize at all. Instead, she’d called in sick the very next day.
Word was Ravenna had been hospitalized, but Kayla was pretty sure Ravenna was just hiding from her.
‘She can dodge me now, but not forever. Does she seriously think she can keep running?‘ Kayla thought. “What a joke. Anyone who messes with me is gonna pay, no exceptions.’
Ravenna wasn’t fit to be a teacher, and since she refused to admit she was wrong, Kayla wasn’t about to show her any respect.
Kayla was still thinking about it when she and Tania reached the classroom door. Right as they were about to walk in, someone burst out and slammed straight into her.
Kayla grunted in pain, grabbing Tania’s arm to steady herself. Then a soft, trembling voice rang out. “Ah!”
Kayla looked up, her eyebrows shooting up in surprise. It was Marianna. ‘Wait, Marianna’s already out of the hospital? she thought, genuinely shocked. ‘Weren’t they saying she was badly hurt? How long has it even
been?
‘Guess Hailey’s people went way easier on her than everyone thought, Kayla scoffed internally.
Kayla gave Marianna a quick once–over. Honestly, she looked perfectly healthy–rosy cheeks and all. If it weren’t for the sling on her left arm, one would never guess she’d been injured.
‘Looks like Tristian really took good care of her,‘ Kayla thought. ‘But still…”

“Marianna, what’s going on? Why are you suddenly kneeling? You worship me that much?” Kayla asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Marianna stayed on her knees, eyes red and watery. She flinched like she’d been startled, but then forced herself to speak. “Kayla, you know I just got out of the hospital and I’m still hurt. How could you bump into me? You just can’t stand having me around, can you?”
Kayla was speechless.
Really? In broad daylight, Marianna literally just got discharged, and she’s already playing the victim? Kayla thought, rolling her eyes internally. ‘Guess Hailey went too easy on her. She still hasn’t learned her lesson
