The Heiress Chooses Madness novel Chapter 146

Living this life over again, Kayla didn’t give a damn what anyone thought of her. Even though she wasn’t avoiding Payton anymore, if he decided she was some heartless bitch and wanted nothing to do with her, she wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

If they weren’t on the same page, there was no point working together anyway.

Tania could feel the awkward tension settling in, so she forced a smile. Hey Payton, haven’t seen you in class lately. What’s up with that?

Seriously, is that even okay to take time off this often?Tania thought.

Payton gave a slight smile. Had some family stuff to deal with. It took longer than I thought.

Everything okay now?Tania asked, sounding genuinely worried.

Yeah, pretty much,Payton said, and his voice sounded lighter than before.

Kayla stayed quiet and just listened. She had no clue what went down with him, but if it was handled, that was good enough.

The lecture wrapped up fast, and just like that, it was time for the debatethe part that always made Class G kids sweat.

Like clockwork, the teacher threw out the classic question. Are people born good, or born evil? You can pick your own teams. Once you’re ready, we’ll start the debate.

The second the teacher finished, a couple of Class A kids burst out laughing. Come on, teacher, aren’t our seats already split into teams? Why bother rearranging? No way we’re teaming up with the losers from Class G, one of them said smugly.

Right? Didn’t those Class G kids keep calling us bookworms who only know how to study? Let’s give them a chance to prove themselves and see if they’ve actually got any skills. This should be fun!another Class A student added, cracking up.

The Class G studentsfaces turned dark with anger, but nobody said anything back.

Everyone knew Class A basically owned the debate team, and every single time there was an open debate, Class C got destroyed. They’d never won once. Class A was clearly trying to embarrass them on purpose, and the smugness in their voices made it crystal clear.

Tania rolled her eyes hard. They know we can’t beat them, and they still pull this crap? They just want to humiliate us. Gosh, this is so annoying, she muttered.

Everyone in Class G was pissed, but there was nothing they could do. Just like Tania said, Class A was way too strong. They didn’t stand a chance.

Kayla shot those smug Class A kids an icy look. This whole mess started because of her drama with Marianna and Davon. Now Class A had the perfect excuse to humiliate Class G. She wasn’t about to let her classmates take the heat for sticking up for her.
