At that moment, Gianna was heading in the direction Isabel had just left, clearly trying to intercept her.
It did not take long for her to catch up.
“Isabel, why are you here? The wind’s strong. Wouldn’t it be better to go back inside?”
Gianna’s tone seemed caring on the surface, but it carried an eerie, unsettling undertone that made Isabel deeply uncomfortable.
“Why are you following me?” Isabel frowned the instant she realized Gianna was behind her.
Honestly, she had never truly disliked or resented anyone before; Gianna was the first.
She had only come out here to get some fresh air, to vent out the frustration and suffocation from earlier.
After all, Isabel knew that even if she told anyone what had just happened, no one would necessarily believe her, especially Marcelo.
The woman in front of her was too good at pretending, acting, and hiding her true self.
Her mood, which had just calmed down, instantly turned sour again because of Gianna’s
presence.
“Of course, I followed you out because I’m worried,” Gianna said, flashing another fake smile. “What if you got upset and decided to jump overboard? What would I do then?”
“Right now, it’s just you and me. You don’t have to keep up this act,” Isabel said, her face unusually serious.
Sure, people in their circle thrived on scheming, deception, and empty politeness.
However, at this moment, there were only the two of them–no hidden eyes watching, no extra ears listening.
So, what was the point of maintaining such a false façade?
“You’re right. Then you should already know why I hate you, don’t you? Be smart and leave my brother on your own. Otherwise, if you marry into this family, life won’t be easy for you.
“You should also see by now that no matter what happens, my brothers—and even my parents -will always believe me and take my side.”

With no one else around, Gianna no longer bothered to act, fully revealing her true face.

“Why do you hate me so much? It’s not like we even have a conflict of interest,” Isabel asked, still puzzled.
Their families were different, their fields had no overlap, and there was no direct clash of
interests.
Why did Gianna insist on targeting her?
Suspicion was one thing, but now, seeing this woman’s true nature up close genuinely shocked Isabel.
There really were people who could disguise themselves so completely, she thought, feeling a chill run down her spine.
“Even if there’s no conflict of interest, I still hate you. Unless you get lost yourself and stop clinging to my brother.”
“Why?” Isabel still did not understand.
Did this woman already have someone in mind as her ideal sister–in–law?
Who knew?
Gianna’s answer, blunt and unashamed, caught her completely off guard.
“To put it accurately, I hate anyone who dares to even think about my brothers. Understand?”
Isabel gasped.
Did this mean…
Gianna was an adopted daughter, not a true–blood relative of the Nygards.
If she had feelings for her brother, it was not technically a violation of ethics, but it was definitely disturbing.
And if she harbored feelings for all three brothers at once, that was downright terrifying.
This woman’s possessiveness was horrifying, the kind that made your skin crawl.
“So what do you really want?” Isabel asked. “Honestly, I don’t even feel anything for Marcelo. If it weren’t for the family arrangement, I never would have chosen him.”
She no longer cared what went on inside the Nygard family. She herself had no real feelings for
Marcelo.
