No matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t fight against the overwhelming tide of public opinion. The wave was too strong to turn around.
They had planned to announce Gianna and Vincent’s engagement around this time, but the sudden turn of events made everyone hesitant.
Marcelo was still debating whether to make it public.
“Marcelo, with everything going on, I think Amelia’s doing this to get back at me and Vincent,” Gianna said, putting on her most worried tone.
“With Mr. Curran backing her, she probably hired people online and those in the media to attack us. She just doesn’t want me and Vincent to make our relationship official.”
When Gianna realized her brother was wavering, she rushed straight to his office, determined to convince him.
“That’s not necessarily true,” Marcelo said after a pause. “We simply miscalculated, that’s all. We didn’t realize period movies have a much wider audience than romance movies. And with all the patriotic themes trending these past few years, they just happened to ride that wave. I just didn’t expect Tony to be that talented.”
When it came to company and shareholder interests, Marcelo wasn’t someone who could be easily swayed. He kept his own judgment clear.
He didn’t blame Gianna–he blamed himself for underestimating that screenwriter. What angered him most was that Amelia had known how skilled Tony was but never said a word, secretly poaching him instead.
Sure, Gianna’s acting wasn’t perfect, but acting wasn’t the most important thing in a romance movie anyway, was it?
No, the real issue was Amelia and Tony.
The more Marcelo thought about it, the more regret he felt. If only he’d been more careful, Tony wouldn’t have been stolen away so easily.
He’d trusted Amelia too much–thinking that no matter how rebellious she got, she was still family, and she’d never do anything to harm them.
But now that brat had proved him wrong. To earn more money and expand her own company, she didn’t care whether the Nygard Group suffered or if her sister was being attacked online.
“So what are you going to do, Marcelo?” Gianna asked anxiously. “Are you really not going to

She could sense his hesitation, and her heart began to panic.

She had slept with Vincent; it was too late to back out now. If they didn’t make it public soon and something unexpected happened, all her sacrifices would be for nothing.
Marcelo looked at her tearful eyes. Amelia’s words suddenly came back to him.
Not only that–he also remembered how every time he tried to spend time with Isabel, Gianna somehow got in the way.
Those buried frustrations began to surface again, creeping quietly through his thoughts.
He forced himself to push them down, to keep control. But deep inside, he could feel those thoughts quietly taking root.
“Gianna, we’re not refusing to announce your engagement with Vincent,” Marcelo said carefully. “It’s just that the movie’s facing some bad press right now. Let’s wait until things settle down before making it official.”
“But Vincent wants to announce it soon,” Gianna replied softly, her tone full of fake hesitation. “He even asked me about it today. I could tell he’s nervous and really cares about it. Since I already agreed, it’d feel wrong to go back on my word.”
Of course, she was lying through her teeth. But she knew her brother would believe anything she said without question.
Then she added, pretending to offer a thoughtful suggestion, “Actually, this might be the best time to go public. If we announce it now, it could boost the movie’s attention again. If we act hesitant or hide from the spotlight, people will think we’re guilty or lacking confidence. Instead, we should announce the engagement proudly–show them nothing can shake us.”
She paused, lowering her voice just enough to sound sweet and submissive. “Of course, that’s just what Vincent and I think. You’re the decision–maker here, Marcelo. We’ll follow whatever you decide.”
Her words flowed smoothly, every sentence designed to hit exactly where it mattered. She even looked up at him with wide, admiring eyes–the perfect little sister act.
Marcelo had been firm at first, but the moment she said that last line, his heart softened.
He loved that feeling–being trusted, being admired.
Right now, Amelia’s film was crushing theirs in every possible way.
If they wanted to turn the tide, they needed something to stir the public’s attention. After

thinking for a moment, Marcelo finally nodded.
“Alright,” he said. “I’ll tell the PR team to start preparing.”
