The internet was on fire. Public opinion surged like a tidal wave, crashing straight toward the Nygards.

None of them expected the scandal to blow up so wildly. It was bad enough that it hit Gianna and Vincent–but now even the Nygards and the Nygard Group were getting dragged into it.

Even Raymond, who usually couldn’t care less about family drama, had to step in this time.

His voice cut through the silence like thunder. “What on earth happened? Everything was fine- how did so many negative stories blow up overnight?”

He turned his glare on his eldest son. “Marcelo, I’ve been grooming you to take over the company one day, and you can’t even handle something this small? The movie’s already getting hammered with bad reviews, and you chose this moment to announce Gianna and Vincent’s engagement? Are you out of your mind?”

Raymond was furious. He practically shouted right in Marcelo’s face.

Now, not only were the shareholders expressing their frustration, but even the Desters had begun to complain.

They thought the announcement came at the worst possible time.

Raymond’s face darkened, his eyes sharp enough to cut glass as he stared at the son he’d once been so proud of.

The living room was thick with tension. No one dared to make a sound, nor was anyone bold enough to speak up for Marcelo.

“Dad, it wasn’t Marcelo’s fault,” Gianna said carefully. “It was me. I told him to announce it. Vincent kept worrying that I wouldn’t admit our relationship publicly. He kept pressuring me about it. I got nervous and asked Marcelo to help.”

She hadn’t planned to speak up, worried that Raymond’s anger would turn on her.

But when she saw Marcelo’s pale face, she panicked–what if he blamed her later?

After all, she was his little sister he’d spoiled and protected for years. He couldn’t throw her under the bus now.

“Hmph! Of course it’s your fault. Why would I blame Gianna? The problem’s clearly your poor judgment!” Raymond snapped, jabbing a finger at Marcelo’s face.

“Marcelo, this time you really messed up. The shareholders are already unhappy. We need to fix this fast.”

Miguel couldn’t help but add his voice to the criticism, his tone tight with worry.

He wasn’t trying to single Marcelo out or make things worse. As someone who worked in law, he didn’t really understand how the entertainment world operated.

Now that Nygard Group’s shareholders had started complaining, Raymond finally snapped and took it out on Marcelo.

Only Maxwell stayed quiet. He knew exactly how it felt to be blamed by the whole family because of Gianna–he’d lived through it before.

So instead of joining in, he just pressed his lips together. He understood that kind of frustration all too well.

“I’ll figure something out,” Marcelo said after a long pause.

He wanted to say more, but that was all he could manage to choke out.

For the first time, he understood how frustrated Maxwell must’ve felt back then. This kind of helplessness was suffocating.

“Figure something out? What could you possibly do? Stop brushing things off!”

Raymond was still fuming. His tone came out sharp and heated.

Normally he didn’t involve himself in company business, but when he did, he was overbearing and impossible to please.

“Oh, come on, it’s not entirely Marcelo’s fault. You can’t blame him!”
