Chapter 189 Fake
Finished
Thanks to Amelia’s support and the chances she gave her, Selena was finally blowing up. And there was no way Gianna–or Marcelo and the others–were going to let that slide.
“Amelia, what do I do? The Nygards must have noticed me by now. They’ll probably accuse me of lip–syncing or impersonating.”
Selena came by in a nervous rush to ask for help.
At Cloudwave, everyone instinctively looked to Amelia first. Whatever the problem, they turned to her without hesitation.
They respected her to the point of awe. Around her, everything felt safe. Solvable.
“What are you afraid of? Lip–syncing or sound–alike work isn’t a crime. And you’re the real voice,” Amelia said, calm as ever, amused by how much Selena was spiraling.
Sure, it could wreck a career in the court of public opinion. But Amelia was certain–Selena’s wouldn’t be the one to crash.
As for the others, well, she couldn’t make any promises.
“I’m worried once people ‘discover‘ it—and with Gianna spinning it–no one will believe me.
“There’s no proof from back then. The Nygards were never going to leave me anything that could expose them. That’s what scares me.”
It had taken everything to break from Nygard Entertainment, to slip out from under the Nygards‘ thumb, to finally have her work seen and recognized.
If she got dragged back to zero after tasting success … Selena wasn’t sure she could take that again.
“The original voice is the original voice. A fake can never surpasses the real thing. If they cheat, they’ll get found out. And people who fear scrutiny? They’re the ones with something to hide.”
Amelia’s tone was calm but deliberate, carrying that air of someone who’d already seen right through everything.
She clapped Selena on the shoulder. “You focus on your craft. The company won’t just stand by and let you get steamrolled.”
Just like that, the tightness in Selena’s chest loosened.
Seriously, wherever Amelia was, it just felt safe.

Chapter 18 Fake
#Finnsned
Cloudwave felt like home. Selena made a quiet promise: as long as the company kept her, she’d give it everything she had.
Gratitude goes both ways–treat me right, and I’ll return it double.
She’d always understood that.
From then on, Selena poured herself into the work–writing, rehearsing, polishing every track.
She wanted jaw–dropping live stages, the kind that left no room for doubt.
Online, the chatter grew. People were drawn to that distinctive sound and the way she laid her feelings bare.
A fanbase sprang up overnight and started ballooning–tens of thousands more every day.
Meanwhile, Gianna was unraveling.
She never imagined the woman who used to ghost–sing for her would dare step into the spotlight–much less catch fire this fast.
When Amelia poached her, Gianna had felt a twinge of dread.
But her brothers brushed it off–the girl would never flip the script.
So Gianna just ignored it, acting like it was no big deal.
And now? That “nobody” Amelia stole had exploded in record time.
Watching the stand–in whom she used to walk all over racking up fans by the tens of thousands, Gianna burned with jealousy so hot she could hardly breathe.
How could this be?
That woman was just a stand–in. A disposable extra. Not even worthy to carry Gianna’s shoes- so how could she ever think to surpass her?
Seething, Gianna ran to her brothers again–crying, pleading, demanding they fix it.
She’d already set her die–hard fans on watch duty, told them to track Amelia and every Cloudwave artist like hawks.
The second Selena spiked, Gianna’s loyalists noticed.
If you were loyal enough to be one of hers, you knew her voice–everything about her.
