She finally understood that the storm had broken for real.
This was beyond her reach.

Gianna’s hands shook on the wheel as she raced toward her mother. She had no other choice.
Her heart pounded in her chest. Each beat felt like it might split her ribs. She needed her mother to step in. She needed her to pull her out of the fire.
The villa stood on the far edge of town. The neighborhood was quiet, tucked away from the noise.
The house was not the grandest, but its secrecy was its worth.
Men of wealth often placed their hidden women in places like this. Everyone in their circle knew, yet no one said a word.
The wives turned a blind eye. They let it pass as long as their own place stayed untouched.
Emery knew such things went on. But she trusted her husband too much to question him.
Raymond rarely came home, but when he did, he wore the mask of a perfect husband. He touched her hand. He spoke with warmth. He smiled like he cared.
So Emery never doubted anything.
She even told her friends how lucky she was for having a doting husband.
Every holiday, every birthday, every anniversary, he gave her gifts. He gave her words that soothed her pride.
Her vanity was fed. Her confidence unshaken. She had no reason to see the truth.
In their circle, the wives held a silent pact. None of them ever stepped near the hidden villas.
Because of that, Regina’s secret had never been exposed.
She lived quietly, never drawing attention, never giving Emery a reason to suspect.
It was that silence, that careful stillness, that made Raymond love her even more. His guilt toward her, and toward their daughter, grew with every passing year.
“Mom, what do I do? Amelia is crushing me!”

Chapter 198 Slipping Maxwell only understood the true weight of the disaster when Marcelo’s harsh words rained down on him one after another.
At the start, he believed this problem would end like all the others. He thought a little money would smooth everything over. He thought it would be nothing more than a passing storm.
But reality proved different. The trouble could not be solved so easily.
Miguel had already rushed to send a lawyer’s letter to Selena and Amelia’s company without knowing the whole story.
Now the lip–sync scandal had exploded, and their sharp lawyer Dane Guzman had turned around to sue them for defamation.
Guzman was not a man who acted on impulse. Yet whenever he chose to strike, defeat was rare.
This time, Nygard Group stood in the wrong. They were destined to lose.
Even if the lawsuit was not the gravest kind, it would still crush their reputation.
The blow hurt even more because Nygard had once boasted to the world that they would bring down Amelia and Selena. Now the internet had its eyes glued to the matter.
There was no chance of walking away clean.
What made it worse was Dane’s sudden involvement. If he had stepped in, the matter would never fade quietly.
Maxwell could not understand what Amelia had done to win the favor of someone like Jeremy.
Without him, Dane would never lower himself to handle such a small case.
“Marcelo, what are we supposed to do now?” Maxwell’s voice cracked.
Marcelo let out a bitter laugh. “Now you ask me what to do? You were just accusing me of not spoiling Gianna enough.”
His thoughts had grown clearer in the chaos. It felt like he had an awakening.
“Don’t forget, Gianna was the one who brought up lip–syncing. She begged us to back her up.”
He refused to waste another second. A wave of restless shareholders was already waiting for him.

Marcelo threw out those words, shoved the door hard, and the sound of wood slamming against the frame echoed down the hall. He left without looking back.
Maxwell stood frozen. Memory rushed back like water flooding a broken dam.
When he first laid eyes on Selena, he thought she was rare, a true musical prodigy.
He had planned to train her carefully. But Gianna had kept sobbing to them. She cried that she loved music. She pleaded that she wanted to be a star.
Her voice was harsh and broken, nearly useless. With enough packaging, maybe she could pretend, but talent like hers could never shine.
Gianna had kept dragging Selena into her weeping stories. She had whispered hints about lip- syncing.
Looking back now, Maxwell saw the truth. She had nudged them into this trap herself.
His face turned darker with each thought.
His skin prickled as if something cold had crawled across it.
He had spoiled his sister for so many years. To realize she might have pushed them into ruin struck him like a hammer to the chest.
At last, Maxwell slammed the door shut behind him and stormed off. The sound shook the
walls.
Outside, Gianna had rushed away in tears. She dragged her steps on purpose, waiting for her brothers to chase after her and pull her into their arms.
Yet the minutes passed, and no one came.
Fear tangled with fury inside her chest. She had never faced such a feeling.
In the past, whenever she showed even a hint of sadness, her brothers would run after her one by one, spoiling her until she laughed again. But now everything had changed.
She had stormed off, yet none of them had followed.
The more she thought, the more her anger burned. She stopped right where she was.
Her head kept snapping back toward the doorway, but no one appeared. The unease in her heart grew heavier.
She whispered to herself. Maybe her tricks had been discovered.

Something else had gone wrong. Her brothers had always been in her grasp. They could not suddenly change.
Her teeth bit hard into her lip. Tears welled once more in her eyes.
After struggling, she decided to hide and watch them.
She slipped to the end of the corridor and pressed herself into the corner. Her eyes never left the door.
A short time later, Marcelo stormed out, his face burning with fury.
Gianna’s heart lit up. She thought he had come for her. She even leaned forward, ready to fling herself into his arms.
But Marcelo never looked her way. His eyes stayed forward as he marched to the elevator. He never once thought to look for her.
Moments later, Maxwell emerged. Gianna held her breath.
She waited for him to call her name, or to look around. But he only followed Marcelo’s steps. He too left without hesitation, without a word, without a glance.
Gianna’s heart dropped like a stone. A freezing fear wrapped around her body.
Out of the three brothers, Maxwell had always been the easiest to sway. He was the softest. He was the fool.
Yet even he had not searched for her.
The thought made her chest tighten. Panic rose like a dark tide, flooding her mind with dread.

Gianna’s voice cracked. Her tears poured as she clutched at her mother’s arm. She had learned how to fake it all her life.
But this time the fear was real. Amelia was pushing her.
Regina wrapped her in her arms and brushed her hair back.
“You will not be beneath her. Not forever. Not while I breathe. That girl is nothing. You are everything.”
Her eyes sharpened. In her heart, her daughter deserved more than victory. She deserved to step on Emery’d daughter She deserved to put Emery’s sons on their knees.
She deserved to take Raymond for herself. She deserved to hear Emery call her daughter.
