Raymond had already been blocked by her and had to swallow his pride just to borrow an assistant’s phone to make the call. That alone should’ve been a big enough favor.

“Of course, I care about Gianna. I treat her like my own daughter. But if Amelia won’t budge, there’s really nothing we can do.

“If we don’t respond soon, the Nygard Group’s image will only take a bigger hit. It’s just an apology–it’s not the end of the world.”

Between his daughter and the company, Raymond naturally chose the company.

Though, of course, he had his own reasons behind that decision.

“I don’t mind apologizing,” Gianna said anxiously, “but wouldn’t that just make the rumors sound true? I’m worried it’ll hurt Nygard Group’s reputation even more.”

Seeing her father take the company’s side instead of hers made Gianna panic inside. She was so tense that she could barely hold herself together, but she still tried to argue one last time.

“Whether you apologize or not, what’s done is done. You might as well own up to it and calm everyone down before things get worse,” Marcelo finally said after staying silent for a while.

He had been quietly observing the whole time–watching Gianna, Emery, and his two brothers talk.

He noticed every little thing Gianna did—the subtle glances she threw at his brothers, the way she phrased things to twist the truth, the little tricks she used to steer the conversation.

And when he started seeing things from the outside, he realized how blind he’d been before.

If this hadn’t involved him personally, he probably would’ve fallen for her act again.

“Marcelo, except for the lip–syncing part, I’ve been wronged in everything else! And even the lip–syncing, it wasn’t my choice! It was the company’s decision. I was just following orders!”

Gianna’s eyes turned red, her lips trembling in a pout that made her look so pitiful it could melt anyone’s heart.

“As for you, Gianna, stay out of the entertainment circle for now. Once this all blows over, you can think about coming back.

“Luckily, the company needs more hands. You can start working at Nygard Group.” That last line revealed Raymond’s real plan.

Lately, Regina had been crying to him nonstop, saying Gianna was being bullied and unfairly treated, that he never gave her a proper place in the company.

The most ridiculous part? She accused him of favoring Amelia over Gianna.

That hit his pride hard. So he decided to use this whole mess as an excuse to bring Gianna into the company.

“You want Gianna to join Nygard Group?” Emery was a little taken aback. “Are you sure she can handle that?”

She wasn’t doubting her daughter’s intelligence, just worried she’d feel trapped doing dull, routine office work.

Gianna’s heart belongs to acting. Even if it’s just a minor role, she always gives it everything she has.

Gianna truly loves performing–it’s not about fame or money,

“You’re forgetting,” Raymond reminded them, “Gianna majored in pharmacology. She’s got two degrees. Working for Nygard Group is actually a perfect fit.”

That made Emery and her sons pause, suddenly remembering.

“Oh, right! I’d forgotten she studied that. She even said she wanted to join the company one day to help you out, so she picked that major on purpose.”
