Chapter 222 Please Don’t Blame Him

What Marcelo regretted most was that he had completely ruined his relationship with Amelia.
Those harsh words, that cold and distant attitude–they cut deep, tearing apart the bond they once had as siblings.
And what made it even worse was that it wasn’t just his fault. The whole Nygards had been blinded, pushing Amelia out of their lives completely.
Trying to fix things now would be almost impossible. Once trust is broken, it’s like a broken mirror. You can’t make it whole again.
Gianna had always been pampered and was used to everyone treating her like a princess and always getting her way.
Now Marcelo was grabbing her by the neck and speaking to her so harshly that she was completely thrown off.
She wanted to defend herself, but the look on his face was so cold and distant that she didn’t dare get close.
It was the first time she’d ever seen her brother like this–so scary, so unfamiliar.
It wasn’t just hard to accept; it made her panic, wondering if she’d lost her influence over him for good.
No way. I can’t just stand by and let one of her brothers slip out of her control.
As the tension between them hung in the air, the VIP room door suddenly burst open.
“Gianna! Are you okay? What did the doctor say?”
“Why would you do something so crazy, hurting yourself just to get revenge? There are other ways to deal with people!”
“Does it still hurt? Did the doctor check you properly?”
The rapid stream of questions came from Emery and her two sons as they rushed in.
Emery carried a pot of homemade stew, setting it carefully on the side table while she looked Gianna over with worry.
She checked her daughter from head to toe, terrified that she might have broken a bone. She would regret it forever if Gianna got badly injured.

“Marcelo, how could you let this happen? How did she get hurt like that?”

Maxwell saw the bruises and scratches on Gianna’s arms and legs, probably from the fall.
Just seeing those visible injuries made his heart ache. Who knows if she’s injured in places we can’t
see?
I can’t stay angry at her anymore. She only did such a reckless thing because she’s been pushed too far by the Nygards and the company.
I can’t scold her now; one wrong word might make her do something even worse.
So instead, he turned his frustration on Marcelo.
“Marcelo, we told you to keep an eye on Gianna! Why did this happen after you ended the livestream and were ready to leave?”
That was exactly what Emery and Miguel had wanted to say. When Maxwell spoke up, they all looked at Marcelo, waiting for an answer.
Being hit with their accusing stares made Marcelo want to smash something out of pure frustration.
Especially seeing these clueless brothers, still fooled by that manipulative woman after all these
years.
How could they not see it? Don’t they even sense something is off?
“Hah. Why did this happen? Maybe you should ask her,” Marcelo shot back sarcastically.
“She’s not dead, and she’s not a kid. Do I really have to hold her hand everywhere she goes?”
His sarcastic tone made the two brothers freeze. They could tell something was off but didn’t quite get what he meant.
“Marcelo, how can you talk like that? Gianna was impulsive, sure, but you’re still responsible,” Miguel said.
“We trusted you to take care of her. If we’d known this would happen, we would’ve sent Maxwell to the press event instead.”
Miguel, who was usually the least fooled by Gianna, still blamed Marcelo without thinking.
Marcelo shot him a cold glare, especially at Miguel, who was acting all self–righteous.
When his turn came to be fooled, Marcelo wondered if he’d still talk that confidently.
