Maxwell still got into a top university, even studied abroad, and became a great stylist.
So how could anyone call him the dumbest? He just wouldn’t accept it.
“Also, I know you’re trying to get Isabel back, but she clearly isn’t interested. Just let it go. Tons of other women out there.”
“Yeah, and you should stop thinking about getting back with Patience, too. No point chasing an
ex.”
Marcelo pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, slipped one out, and lit it.
He took a long drag, then exhaled slowly, a smoke ring floating out as his stress drifted away with it.
He leaned back, half closed his eyes, and let the nicotine hit. His whole body relaxed, posture loosening up.
That earlier tension and awkward vibe faded fast. Watching his dumb brother act like an idiot helped a lot.
“That’s different. Patience and I aren’t like that.”
“How’s it different? Isn’t Gianna the one who messed things up?”
Marcelo knew exactly what was going on, but he wasn’t about to explain.
“You don’t get it, so drop it.” Maxwell’s temper flared just from mentioning it.
He’d shown up at Amelia’s company a few times lately, trying to run into Patience. But that cold–hearted woman wouldn’t even look at him.
Even when he managed to catch her, she’d just take shots at him. Every word she said felt like a dig.
She used to be sweet and caring, always putting up with his nonsense and watching out for him.
Maxwell was sure Amelia had turned Patience against him. Even Isabel turned against Marcelo!
So what if that brat was his real sister? She was rebellious. Why should he spoil her?
“Tsk, aren’t you going to coax Gianna? What’re you waiting for?” Marcelo was running out of patience.

Watching his clueless brother act like that, he figured even a full pack wouldn’t calm him down.
“Oh crap. I totally forgot!” Maxwell jumped up and bolted out.
“What an idiot. He’s hopeless.” Marcelo shook his head.
Honestly, he couldn’t wait for his brother to finally learn how it felt to be in his place.
Marcelo was sharp. Like Amelia, he preferred to sit back and watch his two brothers make fools of themselves.
Watching them both fall for that manipulative girl was actually kind of entertaining.
He felt lucky to be the first one who woke up from her tricks.
Still, he was also the one who’d hurt his real sister the worst, burned that bridge completely.
What a disaster.
Just then, Vincent walked over. They sat at the same table, drinking quietly. It looked kind of pathetic.
“Why’re you sitting here? I’m not about to sit around sulking with you.” Marcelo wasn’t going to empathize with Vincent.
“Come on, we were classmates. Don’t be like that,” Vincent complained, chugging straight from the bottle.
He was downing pricey liquor like it was water. What a waste.
“Yeah, and we’re almost family now. My future brother–in–law, right? Pretty close, huh?”
Marcelo couldn’t resist rubbing it in.
“Can you not bring that up?” Vincent’s face darkened instantly.
“What? Weren’t you chasing Gianna before? Flirting with her while keeping my real sister on the side?”
You started it, so now deal with the consequences.
Marcelo figured he was the only innocent one. He never cheated, not even emotionally, yet he still got dumped.
No matter what he did, Isabel just wouldn’t take him back.
Vincent scoffed. “Guess you finally figured it out. That ‘sweet‘ Gianna isn’t so innocent after all.”

“Same to you. Don’t act gross. I can ignore her anytime. But you? You’re a mama’s boy. Think you can truly go against your mom and ignore her?”
That one hit hard. Drunk and furious, Vincent slammed his chair back and stood up.
“Mama’s boy? Screw you! We’re done. We’re done. That business deal? Forget it–I’m pulling
