Gianna asked with fake modesty, deliberately making it seem like she knew everything and her dear sister was the clueless one.
She had just pulled Miguel aside to chat about work, intentionally ignoring and giving the cold shoulder to Amelia.
“Oh, I really don’t get it.”
Amelia knew exactly what Gianna was thinking. She tilted her head and asked innocently, “I want to know, what formula did you use to fix the medicinal plants?
“Didn’t you say you personally spent a long time developing it? How did you mix it? Can you teach me a little?”
It was obvious this formula wasn’t something this idiot came up with herself. Even if her mother gave it to her, she probably couldn’t clearly explain the development process.
And even if she could explain it, the fool probably wouldn’t get it right away.
Sure enough.
Gianna froze for a second, but gathered herself immediately.
“The process to develop and mix the formula is really complicated. I don’t think even if I explained it, you’d get it.”
“No worries. Take your time. I’m patient. You don’t have to tell me everything, just what materials and tools you used?”
Gianna thought, Who knows what tools were even used? I only heard Mom explain the formula roughly.
But the whole development process … even if I told her, she wouldn’t get it!
She suspected that this jerk was doing it on purpose, questioning that she really made the potion herself.
Luckily, she already had a response ready and answered confidently, calm as ever, “If you’re curious, I can tell you that the formula uses some very rare herbs, plus a special way to process them.
“These herbs have to be picked at specific times, and they must be prepared using ancient methods to get the best effect.”
Ha, this explanation was vague enough to sound impressive but basically said nothing.

“What kind of ancient method? Can you show me?” Amelia asked, then smacked her forehead like she’d just had a great idea.
She added, “You probably can’t show it anyway. Never mind, just forget I asked.”
Her words were so annoying. Anyone who actually did the work would be furious and want to set the record straight immediately.
But someone here was different.
“Amelia, what do you mean by that? Who are you to doubt Gianna?”
Miguel snapped. Amelia was acting crazier and more out of line by the day.
The old Amelia was sweet and thoughtful, always joking and sharing secrets with him.
Why had she changed so much? Why couldn’t she be obedient and considerate, like Gianna?
“Why can’t I? Because she’s some big–shot expert with a fancy state title and huge contributions? So she can’t be doubted?”
Even
experts and top scientists should be open to being checked and challenged.
Was Gianna so full of herself that she couldn’t tolerate
any doubt?
“I–I didn’t mean it like that! Can you not talk so harshly, Amelia?”
Gianna’s eyes immediately welled up. This was her signature move at this point. She could probably get a patent for it.
She said pitifully, “Well, this is a huge deal that affects the Nygard Group. It’s confidential, so I can’t just talk about it in front of everyone.”
Basically, she was blaming her own ignorance and guilt on “confidentiality.”
Poor “confidentiality” got an undeserved reputation.
