Chapter 270 It’s Far Too Late
Sitting beside Ursula, Thea–who had always been biased toward and doted on Amelia— couldn’t stand seeing her wronged.

Especially after Amelia had saved her life from the brink of death, her affection and favoritism for the girl only deepened.
“Grandma, Aunt Thea, don’t worry,” Amelia said casually. “She won’t be jumping around for long.”
Indeed, it was only a matter of time. Every time that idiot showed off, her glory never lasted more than a month. It usually lasted ten days at most before she was crushed.
Watching her all smug and proud, basking in the spotlight, only to be slammed right back down.
That was the most satisfying thing ever.
Marcelo, who had trailed after them looking dejected, tried to maintain a cool composure. He wanted to join the conversation but didn’t know where to begin.
He knew Ursula and Thea were now both on Amelia’s side and had started to get fed up with Gianna.
What surprised him, though, was that these two women had always been the only clear–headed ones among the direct bloodline of the Nygards. They were the only ones who hadn’t fallen under Gianna’s spell.
In the past, they might have been kind to Gianna out of respect for his parents, especially in public.
But now, judging from their tone and attitude, they clearly knew what kind of person Gianna truly was.
“Aunt Thea, you know what Gianna is like in private?”
“Of course, you and your brothers were just too stupid to notice. What, are you finally awake
now?”
That stings!
Thea looked at her nephew with open disdain.
Marcelo felt pierced by her gaze, and regret flooded through him. The anger of being deceived twisted deeper inside him.

“Grandma, d–do you also know Gianna’s true colors?” he asked, still unwilling to give up.
“Hmph! You’ve got the nerve to ask me that? Why don’t you go knock some sense into your parents–and your idiot brothers while you’re at it!”
Ursula looked at him with bitter disappointment. If she weren’t too old and weak, she would’ve slapped him twice and then gone to deal with that pack of fools herself.
Even if Marcelo had finally come to his senses, she still felt it was far too late.
She doubted Amelia would forgive him easily now.
“I-” Marcelo was speechless, the words catching in his throat.
He had always thought he couldn’t match men like Jeremy or Anderson, but at least he saw himself as exceptional–one of the best among his peers.
Yet now, even with all his supposed brilliance, he was outshone by two “retired” elders who saw things with perfect clarity.
He was suffocating with frustration and shame. If not for the last thread of reason holding him back, he might have stormed off and strangled Gianna right then and there.
And to think, he wasn’t the only one who knew he’d been made a fool of!
He didn’t even dare imagine how the public viewed the relationship between him, his brothers, and Gianna.
Marcelo stole another glance at Amelia not far away, his regret and self–loathing swelling.
He couldn’t accept it. He wanted Thea and Ursula to mediate, to persuade Amelia to mend things with him.
But before he could even phrase his request, Amelia already saw through him.
She immediately cut him off and turned to Ursula. “Grandma, there’s something I’d like to talk to you about in private.”
She truly had something to ask Ursula alone.
Despite her age, Ursula had been through countless storms in her life and was sharp as ever.
She understood at once and said, “Marcelo’s too noisy and annoying. Thea, take him away give him a proper lecture. I’ll stay here with Amelia for a while.”
and
“Alright,” Thea replied promptly, catching her meaning.
