After all, Gianna had just joined the Nygard Group, and she was bound to run into plenty of academic problems later on.

It was only because Regina promised everything would go smoothly that she’d endured the pain and had the chip implanted in her ear.

And now, the first time she tried to use it, it failed completely.

So all that pain had been for nothing..

Not only did she gain nothing from it, but now she was about to lose face in front of everyone -especially in front of the woman she hated most. She was about to get publicly humiliated.

She hated herself for bragging so much earlier, but she hated Regina even more for dropping the ball at such a critical moment.

“Gianna, what on earth is going on?” Miguel was about to lose it.

He had been ready to end the awkward situation, but she’d insisted she could handle it.

If she could, then why was she rambling like this now?

Now Miguel was embarrassed too, irritation flickering across his face.

“I–I suddenly feel a little sick, so I can’t really talk right now. Maybe another day? I’ll give everyone a proper explanation then,” Gianna stammered.

She had completely lost contact with Regina, so there was no way she could keep this up.

But since she hadn’t been caught red–handed, there was no way she’d admit she’d cheated.

So, being quick–witted, she used the excuse of not feeling well.

It was better than admitting anything.

“How do you suddenly get sick out of nowhere? What’s wrong with you?”

Just a moment ago, she had been boasting about how amazing she was, and now she claimed

she was sick?

No one in the room believed it. Even Miguel wanted to side with her, but he couldn’t find a single reason to.

“It just came on all of a sudden,” she said pitifully. “My stomach hurts, and it’s hard to breathe.”

Her eyes reddened, her voice turned soft and whiny, and she grabbed Miguel’s arm, shaking it as if no one else were there.

“Miguel, you’ve always cared about me the most. How could I lie to you?”

That sweet, pleading tone and her big watery eyes were her ultimate weapons.

They worked every time.

Sure enough, Miguel, who had been furious seconds ago, softened at once.

Her teary look and gentle voice made him believe her and even feel bad for her.

“Wow, what perfect timing for a stomachache,” Amelia said sarcastically. “You can’t repeat what you said, so now your stomach hurts and you can’t breathe?”

“If you can’t breathe, call 911,” she added coolly. “Maybe you need to be rebuilt or something. Just stop making a scene here.”

Amelia knew Gianna loved to play that card. Only fools fell for it again and again.

She didn’t expose her directly, though. Watching the Nygards wake up on their own was far more satisfying than her pointing it out.

“What are you talking about? Making a scene?” Miguel frowned.

“It’s just that you two siblings were being all touchy–feely in front of everyone. It was an eyesore.”

Amelia hadn’t planned to be that blunt, but since they asked for it, she didn’t mind spelling it

Miguel hadn’t thought anything of it before, but now that she mentioned it, he finally noticed.

Gianna really was clinging to him–her chest practically pressed against his arm.

He instantly pushed her away, his face turning red.

Regina had warned the brothers about this kind of thing before, but he’d brushed it off quickly.

He’d always seen Gianna as a little sister and thought Regina was just overthinking it.

Now, it looked like she hadn’t been wrong at all.

Their interaction did look uncomfortably intimate.
