Chapter 68 Payback
Lillian tried to scream, but her voice was gone.

She clutched her throat in panic. Her mouth opened wide, but all that came out was a raspy “ah, ah.” Her face turned ghostly pale.
Everyone nearby froze.
What just happened? How could someone go silent like they were cursed?
Clifford’s eyes went wide. “Lillian, what’s wrong? Don’t scare us!”
Lillian shook her head like crazy. She pointed at her throat, then at Amelia, terror and disbelief in her eyes.
Amelia looked calm, sipping her water and wiping her mouth with a napkin.
Jeremy narrowed his eyes.
He had just seen Amelia make her move. She had moved so quickly that most people wouldn’t have noticed. But if one looked closely, a hair–thin silver needle could be seen at the side of the woman’s neck, nearly invisible unless examined carefully.
Who would have thought Amelia had that kind of skill?
Her aim with needle therapy was flawless. With a casual flick of her wrist, she had driven the needle straight into the woman’s neck, hitting the exact spot that sealed her voice.
He couldn’t help but wonder how many more surprises she had in store.
Amelia gave a cold smile. Her voice was light and mocking. “What’s wrong, cat got your tongue? Don’t worry. I’m very good at treating illnesses, especially rabies.”
Jeremy’s lips curved up at that.
Amelia was adorable–bold, cocky, and fun to watch.
Clifford finally snapped out of it. He glared at Amelia. “What did you do to her?”
Amelia smoothed her sleeve with no rush. “What could I do? She couldn’t keep her mouth clean. Guess karma caught up with her.”
“You-!” Clifford’s face darkened, but he didn’t dare act rashly.
Jeremy stood beside them, smiling faintly. “Are you full?”

Amelia nodded. “Yeah.”
“Then let’s go,” Jeremy said.
Lillian panicked as she saw Amelia turning to leave.
She made desperate, muffled sounds, eyes begging Amelia to release her.
Amelia gave her a sidelong glance, lips curling in mockery. “Now you want to beg? Didn’t you enjoy cursing me just now?”
Lillian shook her head hard. Tears welled in her eyes. She let out broken whimpers, like a cat being strangled.
Clifford gritted his teeth. “Amelia! Don’t push it! Fix her voice now!”
Amelia’s voice was lazy. “And who are you to order me around?”
Clifford’s face burned red. His fists clenched, but with Jeremy standing there, he didn’t dare swing.
Jeremy’s cold stare cut into him like a blade. Clifford shrank back in fear.
Amelia glanced at Lillian’s pitiful state and, at last, showed a trace of mercy. She pulled a mint from her bag and tossed it at Lillian. “Suck on it. You’ll be able to speak again in ten minutes.”
Lillian fumbled to catch it, then shoved it into her mouth. Anger and humiliation flickered in her eyes.
Amelia gave a little scoff and turned to go.
That’s when Clifford muttered behind them, his voice full of spite. “Tch. She’s just cozying up to a rich guy. Thinks she can play queen. Everyone knows what trash she really is. If she had even a shred of shame, she’d hide herself away instead of showing her face here.”
Amelia’s steps froze. A dangerous chill flashed in her eyes.
Jeremy felt her sudden shift in mood. His gaze hardened. He was about to turn when Amelia slapped him.
The slap rang out loud in the restaurant.
Clifford staggered back, clutching his face, staring at Amelia in disbelief. “You–you hit me?”
Amelia calmly shook out her hand. Her lips curved into a cold smile. “I hit you, so what? Do I need to wait for a special occasion?”
