Maxwell didn’t pause for a second. He lunged straight toward the pill in Amelia’s hand.

But Amelia was quicker. She slipped out of reach, her gaze sharp as ice. “You have no idea what’s going on. If you don’t want Grandma to suffer, then move aside and stay quiet.”
Marcelo scowled. “Amelia, stop making up stories. Who can actually confirm this pill is an antidote? For all we know, it might be something harmful you smuggled in.”
The other brothers chimed in as well. “Exactly! Nobody knows the source of this pill. We can’t just hand it to Grandma.”
“Amelia’s being reckless. How can she behave this way?”
Seeing everyone rally against her, Gianna secretly felt thrilled, though her face stayed anxious. She kept pretending.
“Amelia, if you really care about Grandma, listen to reason. Don’t cause trouble. Put the pill away and let’s find another solution.”
Amelia glared coldly at the clueless bunch.
“If you refuse to believe me, I’ll get this tested in a real lab immediately. But Grandma doesn’t have the time. If your ignorance costs her life, which one of you will take the blame?”
Marcelo had no comeback, his throat tightening at Amelia’s words.
At that moment, Ursula suddenly let out a painful groan. Her body started convulsing.
“Grandma!” Amelia was anxious. There was no time left to argue. She quickly forced open Grandma’s mouth and placed the pill inside.
“You’ve gone insane!” Emery shrieked, charging forward to strike Amelia.
But Amelia moved faster. She caught Emery’s wrist, her voice colder than steel. “Try it again and I won’t hold back.”
So what if this woman was her birth mother?
Emery flinched at Amelia’s glare, but forced herself to sound fierce. “You’ll kill her. If anything happens, the responsibility is yours.”
Everyone’s eyes locked on Grandma, barely daring to breathe. The room felt frozen.
Moments later, something unbelievable happened. Grandma’s complexion gradually returned,

The deep lines of pain smoothed from her brow. She looked as though danger had passed.
Amelia finally exhaled in relief. She glanced at the stunned faces around her and let out a mocking laugh. “Anybody else got something to say?”
Gianna saw Grandma recovering, a flash of fear flickering in her eyes before she masked it.
She softened her voice and pretended to be kind. “Amelia, looks like we were wrong. Good thing your pill helped. I’m just relieved Grandma’s alright.”
Amelia met her with nothing but contempt, ignoring the fake sympathy.
Marcelo looked awkward. Clearing his throat, he muttered, “Since the pill worked, fine. But next time, consult with us first. Don’t just act alone.”
Amelia didn’t waste words. She was determined to prove Gianna had poisoned Grandma.
Before, it had only been suspicion, but seeing Gianna’s guilty reaction, she was nearly convinced.
How vile must someone be to poison their own grandmother?
Ursula slowly regained consciousness, her eyes opening to see her family crowded around.
It felt almost like she was on her deathbed, surrounded by children and grandchildren waiting for her last words.
“Why are you all here? What happened to me?” Ursula asked nervously.
She remembered preparing to meet her friends for cards, but suddenly felt feverish and unable to breathe.
Her head felt like it might explode, the room spun, and then … darkness. She’d fainted.
Before Amelia could answer, Gianna rushed in, desperate to steal the credit.
Her eyes brimmed red as she choked out, “Grandma, thank goodness you’re fine. You passed out just now and terrified me. I gave you a massage, wiped you down. I’m so relieved you’re safe.”
She made it sound like she’d done everything herself.
