She spoke bluntly. “Isabelle, that’s not a permanent solution. With how convenient travel is now, even if I move cities, as long as Nathaniel refuses to let go, it won’t make a difference.”

“Then get married!” Isabelle snapped, her expression borderline manic. “If you get married, he’ll give up. He’s just being stubborn. I don’t believe he truly loves you. Once you’re married, he’ll let go for sure!”

Estella let out a soft laugh. “Why should I throw away my own life just to satisfy the two of you? You’re not that important to me.”

Isabelle’s face twisted in frustration. She began to breathe heavily, voice rising with emotion. “You won’t leave, and you won’t get married either. That means you’re stringing Nathaniel along! Estella, you act like you don’t care about him, like you want to move on–but deep down, you’re still hanging onto him! You’re a lying bitch!”

Estella had had enough. Isabelle was lashing out again, blaming everyone but herself.

She stood, her tone icy. “Snapping at me won’t change anything. Love is a problem with no right answer. Can you guarantee Nathaniel won’t fall for someone else again?”

She paused, then added, “He used to love you. Now he says he loves me. And later? Maybe he’ll love someone else. What will you do then?”

“To be honest, I think you’d be better off letting go. Because…”

Another pause.

“He’s kind of a scumbag.”

Pouring your heart out for a guy like that? Really not worth it.

Honestly, Estella would prefer if Isabelle did give up on Nathaniel.

With the Hartwell Group teetering, it might just go under. If Nathaniel lost all his money and power, would he really still have the means to chase after her?

Isabelle gritted her teeth. “He’s not like that.”

To her, Nathaniel was her crush, her first love, her sweet and stubborn childhood friend.

“You’re telling me to give up on him–what’s your angle?”

Isabelle was already too far gone. No amount of logic would reach her now.

Estella stood to leave. “He did save my life, so I’ll visit him now and then. But don’t worry–I’ll only come by when you’re around.”

She grabbed her bag and walked out of the café.

Isabelle watched her go, her heart twisted with resentment.

Just then, Isabelle’s older brother arrived to pick her up. As Estella brushed past him at the entrance, he glanced at her, surprised.

She looked… different.

The Estella from before had always carried a timid, insecure look in her eyes. But now, she radiated confidence and poise—like a capable career woman who knew exactly what she wanted.

He turned toward his sister, who sat in the café with a bitter expression, and sighed.

Truthfully, he didn’t want her chasing after Nathaniel anymore.

He could tell–Nathaniel didn’t love her. Not anymore.

Isabelle used to be cheerful and bright. But ever since Nathaniel, she’d become anxious and volatile.

He’d advised her many times to just walk away, come work at the family company, or simply enjoy life as a carefree heiress. The Monroe family could easily afford to support her.

But she never listened.

He walked over and said gently, “Isabelle, you haven’t come home in days. Mom’s really worried. Come back with me, okay?”

Isabelle looked at him with a hint of vulnerability. “But Nathaniel’s still hurt. I have to take care of him.”

Isaac’s patience cracked. “He’s got a nurse. You don’t need to wait on him. And besides, he treats you like crap. Our family’s invested time and money in his company–if he had any gratitude, he wouldn’t treat you like this. And now, he even took a knife for another woman! Isabelle, stop degrading yourself.”

Hearing her brother scold her, Isabelle’s eyes welled up with tears.
