Estella pointed downstairs. “You know Luminary Partners & Co. downstairs, right? I’m familiar with them. If I ask them to sue you, do you think you’d win?”
Wilson faltered.
He knew what he’d done was illegal. If Estella took him to court, he really might end up meeting with the authorities.
But reasoning wasn’t his strength. Playing dirty was.
“Go ahead, sue me. Your mom and my mom are so close. If you sue me, you think your mom will let you off? Estella, I didn’t think you’d care about money this much, not even value family. Poor her, having a daughter like you unfilial. In the end, she’ll have to count on me to send her off. If you don’t start flattering me now, I won’t help later!”
–
“Oh, thanks, but my mom doesn’t need you at her funeral.”
Estella sneered.
Seeing her completely unmoved, Wilson snapped and raised his hand to hit her.
Estella instantly pulled out her pepper spray and sprayed it right in his face.
Wilson screamed, clutching his burning eyes, collapsing to the floor unable to get up.
Estella called security in and had Wilson thrown out.
He howled and cursed outside the building until the guards finally drove him away.
Half an hour later, Victoria called.
“Estella, what on earth are you doing? Wilson just made a mistake trying to help. We’re all one family how could you treat him like that?”
Estella’s voice dripped with scorn. “Mom, I’m your own daughter. How can you side with an outsider against me, just to get at my money?”
Victoria snapped, “What outsider? Wilson is your brother!”
Estella scoffed. “What kind of brother? Mom, you only have one daughter, and that’s me.”
Victoria sighed in exasperation. “You child, you don’t act like a girl at all. Other girls are obedient, know how to take care of their brothers. And you? You’re squabbling with your own brother over a little money.”

Estella shot back. “Mom, I’ve bled and sweated to build this business from nothing. Wilson waltzes in and tries to destroy it – how could I keep him around?”
“Business, business! No matter how much you make, it’s nothing compared to marrying a good man and giving birth to a son! My biggest regret in life is not finding you a good husband before you graduated college!”
Estella nearly laughed from the sheer absurdity. “Mom, say whatever you want. I won’t listen.”
Victoria sighed heavily. “I should’ve had a second child. If I had a son, I wouldn’t have to depend on anyone else, and I wouldn’t be driven to death by you.”
Estella’s eyes burned with fury. “Good thing I’m an only child. If I had a brother, with the way you already fawn over Wilson, I can’t imagine how much worse your favoritism would be!”
“Don’t talk nonsense!” Victoria snapped, unwilling to admit her bias. “Haven’t I spoiled you all these years?”
Estella’s eyes reddened. “That’s only because I don’t have a brother. If I did, would you still spoil me the same way? Forget it, Mom, don’t bother. I won’t let Wilson off. He tried to swindle me, so I’ll make sure he pays.”
Estella knew full well
—
Lina and her son had come back just to leech.
She wouldn’t make the same foolish mistake her mother had.
When Victoria realized she couldn’t persuade her, she resorted to threats. “I forbid you from suing your brother. If you don’t listen, then don’t call me your mother ever again!”
She hung up.
Estella, of course, wasn’t going to obey.
If she didn’t stand firm, Lina and Wilson would be the first to strip her down to the bone.
She messaged Lana, asking for advice on Wilson forging her signature and running up debts.
Lana sent her strategies and said the case was easy. If Wilson didn’t repay, after three months he could be jailed.
Estella didn’t hesitate. She had Lana send a lawyer’s letter to Wilson right away.
Wilson showed up every day to make a scene, dragging Lina with him.
Estella had expected trouble. She simply called the police.
