Jill let out a scornful laugh. “So what? You show up all high and mighty like you’re here to judge everyone–real impressive of you as a brother.”
Adrian’s face darkened. He pointed a trembling finger at Sloane, clearly fuming. “Look at the kind of people you surround yourself with!”
Cameron stepped forward, positioning himself between Adrian and Jill, his eyes sharp and
cold.
Sloane’s voice was just as icy. “If you’ve got a problem, take it up with me. Leave my friends out of it. And family’s support? What exactly did you ever do to ‘support‘ me? Now you want to take credit for everything? Shameless.”
Summer stood beside Adrian and quickly jumped in. “Sloane, how can you speak to your brother like that? So rude and ungrateful.” As she spoke, she kept sneaking glances at Adrian, clearly trying to impress him.
Samantha, ever the phony, walked up and grabbed Adrian’s arm gently. “Don’t be mad. Just talk things out. I’m sure your sister will understand how much you care.”

But before they could act, hurried footsteps echoed across the floor. The hotel’s general manager rushed over and immediately shouted, “Stand down!”
Everyone froze. Before they could react, the general manager strode up to the lobby manager and slapped him across the face. “Idiot. You’re fired.”
Summer’s face turned crimson. Humiliated in front of Adrian, she pointed at the general manager. “If you fire him, I’ll fire you!”
But the general manager didn’t even blink. His tone calm but firm, he replied, “Ms. Summer, this restaurant is owned by Hawthorne Corp. Hawthorne Corp welcomes business–we don’t drive customers away.”
