The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 38

It felt like a thousand knives were slashing at his throat, every swallow a fresh wave of agony.

“Do you want me to help you change and clean up a bit?” Lindsay asked softly.

Yves gave the faintest nod.

Since he agreed, Lindsay had no choice but to head into the bathroom. She filled a basin with warm water and grabbed a clean set of clothes before returning.

As she helped Yves out of his shirt, she couldn’t help but notice his toned chest, the defined lines of his abs, the sharp taper of his waist. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment, a rosy blush creeping across her pale skin.

Lindsay cleared her throat awkwardly, dipped the towel in water, and began wiping down Yves' neck and chest. His skin was warm and firm beneath her touch, with a springy resilience that made her fingers tingle.

For some reason, Lindsay suddenly felt a hot, intense gaze fixed on her. When she looked up, her eyes met Yves'. In that instant, her blush deepened, spreading all the way to her earlobes. Her whole body felt uncomfortably warm.

Desperate to break the tension, Lindsay quickly finished cleaning him up and slipped a fresh shirt over his head in one smooth motion. Then, moving as if on autopilot, she grabbed the basin and hurried back into the bathroom.

It was a while before she came out again, droplets of water still clinging to her face—she’d clearly just splashed some cold water on herself to cool down.

“I’ll give you a hand massage,” Lindsay said as she returned to his bedside, rolling up her sleeves. “Now that you’re awake, you’ll be able to get up and walk soon.”

Being in a coma for months could dull anyone’s mind, not to mention leave their limbs stiff and weak. Sometimes, even after waking, people could be left with lingering aftereffects—like not being able to walk right away.

Lindsay gently kneaded Yves' hands and feet, working patiently for what felt like ages until her own hands ached with fatigue.
