The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 75

Mr. Young paused for a moment, then explained, “Think of it this way: what happened to you before you were injured left you with a heart wound—a trauma that’s still affecting you.”

As Yves recalled the ambush, his hands started to tremble uncontrollably. His eyes reddened, and veins stood out on his forehead as he fought to keep his emotions in check.

Lindsay took in every nuance of his reaction. Instinctively, she reached out and held his hand, her voice gentle and reassuring. “It’s all right. It’s over now. You’re safe.”

It was clear the ambush had left a deep psychological scar on Yves.

“I’m fine,” Yves said, snapping back to the present. He forced a faint smile, pretending everything was under control, but inside, his emotions churned like a storm.

Mr. Young fixed his gaze on Yves, his tone meaningful. “Only the one who tied the knot can untie it.”

This was no simple matter—some knots run deep.

Yves said nothing, lost in thought.

Lindsay noticed and felt a surge of concern. She turned to Mr. Young and asked, “Besides therapy, is there anything else he needs for his recovery?”

“Healing his mind is more important than anything else,” Mr. Young answered honestly.

“So his legs—he doesn’t need any special treatment for them right now?”

“I’ll prescribe some medication, but as I said, if he wants to walk again, he needs to conquer what’s inside his head first.”

Lindsay glanced anxiously at Yves, wondering what horrors he must have endured during that ambush—what could possibly have broken such a strong man?

After collecting the medication, Yves and Lindsay left together.

Once they were in the car, Yves asked quietly, “This isn’t working. Maybe we should try seeing a therapist? You want to get back on your feet as soon as possible, don’t you?”

Yves pressed his lips together, then turned to Lindsay. “Just give me some time. I can get through this.”

Following his lead, Lindsay gently probed, “What really happened to you during that ambush? What did those men do?”

Yves stared out the window, watching the scenery blur by as if his memories were playing in reverse.

A long silence stretched between them.

Finally, Yves spoke. “Should I drop you back at the office?”
