“Watch your mouth.” Lester’s temper flared. “So, you’re still refusing to apologize? Don’t think just because you have Yves behind you that I won’t do anything.”

Lindsay raised a finger and wagged it at him. “Nope. Even with your so-called ‘power,’ you couldn’t lay a hand on me.”

She wasn’t joking. She’d been practicing kickboxing and martial arts since she was a kid. Unlike Lester, who only had his gender to brag about, she’d never been pampered or protected. Frankly, she couldn’t see any real talent in him at all.

Looking back, she couldn’t believe she’d ever been foolish enough to fall for him.

Her words were nothing short of a provocation. And with half the Design Department watching, if Lester didn’t put her in her place, how could he save face?

“Lindsay, I gave you a chance. You’re the one who threw it away.” Lester’s eyes were cold as steel, his fists clenched at his sides, ready to strike at any moment.

Lindsay just shrugged. “Fine. If you think you’ve got what it takes, come on then.”

Lester clapped his hands, and two tall women in black suits stepped into the room. Bodyguards, clearly.

“I don’t hit women,” Lester sneered. “But you have one last chance—apologize now, and for Yves' sake, I’ll let this slide.”

Lindsay glanced at the bodyguards—statuesque, intimidating—but her face remained calm and unbothered.

“Oh, Lester, just leave it, will you? No need to make a scene,” Naomi chimed in, pretending to play peacemaker, though everyone knew she was the one who started this mess.

“People like her need to learn there are some lines you don’t cross,” Lester replied, waving Naomi away so she wouldn’t get caught up in what was about to happen.
