The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 79

The female bodyguard grimaced in pain, shaking her head hard. She was done. No more fighting. That woman was a real demon.

Even harder to deal with than any man.

Lester’s face was stormy, his jaw clenched tight. The veins bulged on the back of his hand, standing out like ropes, barely containing the fury simmering beneath his skin.

Lindsay strode toward him, her brows arched with challenge. "Well, Lester? Not satisfied? Why don’t you step up yourself?"

It was a blatant provocation, but Lester had just witnessed her strength firsthand. He couldn’t be sure he’d win, and the thought of a man hitting a woman—well, even he knew that wouldn’t look good.

He deflected, his tone stiff. "Didn’t expect you to fight so well."

"You’ll find out more soon enough," Lindsay shot back, her eyes icy with hatred. "All the dirty tricks you used on me before—I’ll pay you back, one by one." In her last life, she’d been powerless against their cruelty. They’d forced drugs into her veins until she was too weak to even lift a laptop, let alone fight back.

Lester frowned, genuinely confused. When had he ever pulled dirty tricks on Lindsay? If anything, he’d only started warning her lately, ever since she’d married Yves and turned insufferably arrogant.

Naomi, standing nearby, watched with narrowed eyes, suspicion prickling at her spine.

Something’s not right. Why does Lindsay keep talking about the past? None of those things ever happened before, did they?

A chilling thought struck Naomi, making her breath catch. Lindsay… had she come back to life too?

"Lester, go home," Naomi said abruptly, panic edging her voice as the possibility dawned on her.

She needed Lester—he was her shield. She couldn’t risk anything happening to him. But if Lindsay really had been reborn, if Lester didn’t leave now, he’d be walking straight into disaster.
