The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 89

Even so, everyone still had to go through the motions.

Lester greeted Cheryl with a smile, slipping effortlessly into the role of gracious host.

“Make yourself at home, really. No need to be formal.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t be. In fact, I was planning on staying the night.”

The words had barely left Cheryl’s lips before everyone turned to look at her, eyebrows knitted in varying degrees of surprise.

Wasn’t that a bit much? Did she really mean it, or was she just joking around—and then decided to take her own joke seriously?

Yves' scowl was especially pronounced, his brows drawing together in a deep frown. God only knew what Cheryl was playing at this time.

“I’m starving! Can we eat now?” Cheryl tugged Lindsay’s hand, her voice taking on a playful, almost childlike whine.

Lindsay shuddered, goosebumps rising on her arms. Why on earth was Cheryl acting cutesy with her, of all people?

“Ahem. Well, since everyone’s here, let’s eat,” Lindsay said quickly, seizing the chance to slip her hand free. She chose a seat beside Yves.

Cheryl didn’t mind in the slightest. She slid right into the spot next to Lindsay, launching eagerly into conversation.

Lester watched the little scene unfold, glancing at the silent Yves, a sly smile curving his lips.

Looks like things are about to get interesting around here.

After dinner, Cheryl really did stay the night. Daniel showed her to the guest room.

Everyone retreated to their own rooms, but it wasn’t long before Lindsay heard a knock at her door.

She opened it to find Cheryl standing in the hallway. Lindsay’s brows drew together, “What’s up?”

“I can’t sleep. Will you come walk with me in the garden?” Cheryl said bluntly.
