The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 92

“I’ve thought of you as my little sister ever since you moved into Quigley Manor—even if I said it when I was a kid, I meant that promise for life.” Lester’s tone was warm and earnest, his whole demeanor radiating protective big brother energy.

If this were her previous life, Lindsay would have fallen for it without a second thought.

But she knew him far too well now. Lester would do anything, cross any line, to get what he wanted.

“You’re always so good to me, Lester. I honestly feel terrible for how I treated you and your mother before. I must have been out of my mind. Tell me, how can I ever make it up to you?” Lindsay’s eyes shimmered, the corners tinged red, as if she might burst into tears at any moment.

Lester shook his head. “I don’t blame you. I know you were misled. And I get it—things are tough for you now. Cheryl’s no saint herself.”

He let out a heavy sigh, as if baring his soul to win her trust, even going so far as to admit he’d been seeing Cheryl recently.

“She’s… strange. She’ll start yelling at thin air, go out of her way to humiliate people. Honestly, she’s a complete lunatic.”

Lindsay eyed him skeptically, but in a flash remembered the first time she met Cheryl—she, too, had muttered to no one in particular.

“Lindsay, I’m genuinely worried about you. Cheryl’s forced her way in now, and she’ll do whatever it takes to edge you out. I’m afraid she might even try something drastic.”

Lindsay’s silence made it hard for Lester to tell if she believed him or not.

“Lester, what should I do to secure my place here? How can I ever repay you?”

“If Yves wasn’t CEO of the Quigley Group, he’d be worthless in Cheryl’s eyes.” Lester’s words were gentle, coaxing.

Enlightenment dawned on Lindsay. “So the reason Cheryl dated you before was because you were the CEO?”

Lester raised an eyebrow, impressed by her deduction. “Exactly.”

“Then how do I get Yves out of that position?”
