“Commander, we’ve brought her. You can inspect if you wish,” the elder said respectfully.

The woman glared at them, her eyes cold with contempt. “Inspect? Again? If it still needs me to inspect, that only proves you didn’t do your job properly! What kind of work is this?”

“It’s not that,” the elder replied nervously. “We informed you the moment we found out. The situation is unusual–we couldn’t confirm anything for sure.”

“Shut up!” A cold, cutting voice interrupted him.

The old man’s heart sank–he’d dreaded this. Of all possibilities, it had to be the Academy’s most infamous terror–S048, impossible to placate and quick to rage.

Less than fifty high–ranking members belonged to the Divine Academy, most of them courteous and composed. They never made things difficult for others.

But this woman is the exception. Everyone in the Divine Academy knows she’s impossible to handle–volatile, harsh, and dangerously unpredictable.

S048 swept her cold gaze over the crowd. “Which one of you is it? Step forward and show me your abilities. If you try to deceive me, you’ll pay the price.”

As soon as her words fell, everyone stepped aside, revealing Theresa and Vinny in the middle.

When the woman saw Theresa, she froze, eyes wide. “Tania Owen–Gray!”

“You know my aunt?” Theresa raised a brow in surprise.

The woman snapped out of her daze, her gaze locking on Theresa as she strode forward, excitement in her voice. “Tania is your aunt? Where is she now? Is she still alive?”

Theresa frowned at the woman’s intensity.

It didn’t sound like the concern of an old friend. It sounded more like an enemy desperate to know if her rival still lived.

“And who exactly are you?”

“You don’t deserve to know. Just tell me–did Tania die or not?”

“Why should I?”

Theresa replied without hesitation.

The order left them no choice. They exchanged uneasy glances but filed out of the chamber.

The heavy door slammed shut behind them.

As soon as it closed, S048 turned back to Theresa, her tone dripping with arrogance. “You and your wretched aunt are truly alike. But this is my territory. If you don’t tell me the truth, I’ll crush you with a single finger!”

A sharp slap cracked across her face, sending her flying.

She hit the ground, staring at Theresa in disbelief. “You dare hit me?!”

“So what if I did? Did I provoke you? You show up full of threats and intimidation–who spoiled you into thinking this was acceptable?” She raised her hand again. Another slap resounded across her face.

This time, flames roared to life in the woman’s palm, surging toward Theresa with explosive force.

A sixth–tier fire ability!

Deep in the flames, her eyes glinted with wicked satisfaction.

I didn’t get to kill Tania, but killing her niece will do just as well! And she even looks so much like her!
