Even in her current predicament, she still carried herself with unmistakable pride.
Danielle couldn’t help but let out a soft, mocking laugh as she listened.
“You’re something else,” Danielle said, rising slowly to her feet. Her gaze was sharp, laced with scorn. “Only you could make asking for a favor sound so fresh and dignified.”
If working with AetherX Dynamics were truly such a golden opportunity, and if it really took so many backdoor connections to make it happen, would Millie have shown up in person to beg?
“If you weren’t so brash and arrogant now, maybe when the terms of your contract come due, I could give you a little more time to get your act together.”
Her tone was cool, measured, almost emotionless, yet somehow more infuriating than if she’d shouted.
Millie’s chest heaved as she glared at Danielle, her expression strained, refusing to let her composure crack.
“If you’re not serious about this, Miss Fletcher, then don’t let me keep you.”
With a biting scoff, Millie spun on her heel and stormed out.
She could seek a partnership—but she would never stoop to beg Danielle.
It honestly hadn’t occurred to her that she’d run into Danielle of all people when she came to negotiate.
Danielle—always waving her little bit of authority around like it meant something—really had started to believe her own hype.
Millie didn’t have to work with Ninesky. Not if it meant swallowing her pride.
Without another word, she stalked out, the sharp click of her heels echoing down the hallway.
Once outside, Millie pulled her phone from her coat pocket and dialed Alexander.
“Alex—”
She recounted everything, leaving out none of the details.
“I just can’t believe Gian would go along with this. Danielle is nothing now—what right does she have to turn me down, to turn down AetherX Dynamics?”
Just talking about it made Millie’s blood boil.
Alexander sat in his office, head bent over his paperwork, phone on speaker beside him. He didn’t get swept up in her outrage.
Taking a deep breath, Millie flagged down a cab and left Ninesky behind.
Meanwhile—
No sooner had Alexander ended his call with Millie than his grandmother’s number flashed on the screen.
“Grandma,” he greeted.
“I heard you spent a billion dollars to start a company for Millie,” her voice was cold and steely. “Not only has that company failed to turn a profit, it’s losing money hand over fist.”
Alexander tapped his fingers lightly on the desk, considering his words. “It’s a new venture. A few bumps in the road are normal.”
“And now you want to bail her out?”
He fell silent, not answering.
His grandmother’s tone grew even frostier. “Let me make myself perfectly clear. If you’re willing to disregard Dani’s feelings to help Millie, be my guest. But if you dare, Alexander, I won’t hesitate to pull the plug on AetherX Dynamics—and I’ll take back every cent you’ve spent on her.”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
