Alexander listened to his grandmother’s words, his expression unchanged, responding only with a heavy silence.
“Millie grew up with you—you’re right to look out for her. But you can’t let your childhood bond with her end up hurting Dani.”
“Do you understand what I’m saying?”
His grandmother stood in the garden, phone in hand, carefully pruning the rose bushes.
Alexander and Millie had become so conspicuous lately that even gossip had made its way to his grandmother. The rumors made her uneasy, and for the first time, she felt she had to intervene in their affairs. Once upon a time, she kept to herself, never meddling in family matters, but now, some things simply couldn’t be ignored.
Dani never brought any of this up with her, but perhaps it was time she learned the truth for herself.
“You keep saying you don’t want to divorce Dani, but do your actions show that you mean it?”
When the person on the other end still didn’t answer, her tone grew sharper as she set down her shears; her gaze hardened. “I’m talking to you.”
“Yes, Gran,” Alexander finally replied. “I understand.”
“Then tell me—what exactly does Millie mean to you?” she pressed.
Lately, they’d been acting strangely, and the rumors around town were only getting worse. Some of what she’d heard was almost unbelievable.
“Raffy calls her ‘Mom’—that’s outrageous enough. But now people are saying Niki isn’t even a Davidson by blood?” Her eyes narrowed. “Don’t tell me you haven’t heard. I want you to deal with this, and deal with it properly.”
“If you don’t handle it, then I will.”
It was a warning, plain as day.

Meanwhile, across town—
“Where is he? Put him on the phone. I want to talk to him.”
On the other end, Nash fell silent for a moment, glancing over at Alexander. Alexander simply reached out, and Nash handed him the phone.
“Hello?”
“Alex, is something going on with the project?” Millie’s voice was tense.
Leaning back in his chair, Alexander answered slowly, as if the issue didn’t concern him at all. “How much do you need to solve the immediate problem?”
“Money is important,” Millie replied, “but what the company really needs right now is a reliable partner. Without that, the project can’t move forward at all.”
Alexander said calmly, “We’re under a lot of scrutiny right now. There’s no need to rush for quick returns.”
His words left Millie feeling completely at a loss, as if she was grasping at fog.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
