She still needed to test Alexander’s attitude a bit more before making any decisions.
It was right then that her grandmother’s call came through.
Grandma invited her to come back to the family estate for dinner the next day. Her eldest brother would be there, and so would Alexander. It would be a chance for the whole family to get together.
Hearing the invitation, Danielle instinctively frowned. Her brother was still in the hospital—how was he supposed to make it home for dinner tomorrow?
Still, there were things she wanted to discuss with Alexander. The timing was almost too perfect.
She agreed to her grandmother’s invitation.
Danielle dialed Nathan’s number.
He picked up after only a couple of rings.
“Calling this late—is something wrong?”
His voice was gentle, almost indulgent. Danielle could hear the happiness in his tone, simply because she’d called him at this hour.
“Grandma just called. She wants me to come home for dinner tomorrow. She said you’ll be there, too. Are you really well enough for that?”
Danielle’s concern was genuine. After all, he’d been hurt because of her.
Nathan gave a soft laugh. “I’m not as fragile as you think, Danielle.”
“I’ve been in the hospital long enough. My injuries are healing. I can handle dinner at home. But let’s not worry Grandma, all right? Don’t mention any of this to her.”
Danielle didn’t argue. In the end, she agreed.

The next day.
Dinner was scheduled for the evening, so Danielle planned to head home after work.
Outside, the weather looked ominous, the sky heavy and gray, as if a downpour could start at any moment.
“Heading to Davidson Manor in such a rush?” Gian asked as she gathered her things.
Danielle had mentioned her plans for the evening.
He looked at her thoughtfully. “Have you made up your mind about something? Are you hoping to get some answers tonight?”
Danielle shook her head. “I’m fine.”
Her hobbies had always been varied. She loved cars, and had even done a bit of amateur racing. But her brother didn’t know that.
As she navigated the slick, foggy road, memories of the last accident flashed through her mind.
The official report had blamed brake failure, but Danielle still felt a chill when she remembered how close she’d come to disaster. If Alexander hadn’t rushed to save Millie that day, Danielle might not have survived.
Looking back, Alexander had been seriously hurt because of Millie, too.
If all the company resources and attention he received was meant to smother him with kindness, then risking his life to save someone—wasn’t that real?
No matter what, there must have been genuine feelings between them, once.
—
They finally pulled up to the old manor.
The rain showed no sign of letting up, but thankfully, Danielle had packed an umbrella.

Sooooo complicated sigh* Simply pls thanks....
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
