The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 793

She knew Rebecca was right. She knew she should let go, once and for all.

But every time she imagined Alexander lying in a hospital bed, suffering alone because of her, something twisted painfully inside her chest. No matter what she told herself, she just couldn’t move on.

“I understand.” Danielle’s voice was hoarse. “I won’t bother him again. I won’t ask about it anymore.”

After hanging up, Danielle stared at Rebecca’s name on her phone screen for a long time.

Papers still lay strewn across her desk—clear instructions for reporting to the Space Agency tomorrow—but she couldn’t bring herself to look at them anymore.

She walked over to the window and gazed down at the scattered lights below. It felt as though a heavy stone was pressing on her heart.

She’d thought leaving Northridge would mean a fresh start. She hadn’t expected Alexander’s name to linger in her mind, tied to her by an invisible thread that refused to let her go.

Night deepened. The apartment was so quiet she could hear the ticking of the clock.

Danielle pulled out her phone and opened her messages with Alexander. The last thing in the chat was a reminder she’d typed, but never sent.

She stared at it for a long time before finally pressing “Delete Contact.”

She’d made her choice. There was no turning back now.

Meanwhile.

In the hospital room.

Alexander sat propped up against the pillows, a laptop balanced on his knees. The Davidson Group’s financial reports glowed on the screen, rows of numbers flickering past his eyes.

The door eased open and Rebecca stepped inside, carrying a fresh set of test results.
