Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 103

The hand with the IV hung limp at his side, blood slowly seeping back up the tube.

She quickly set her paper cup aside and hurried over, lifting his arm to help the blood flow, then taking the saline bag from his other hand.

“Why were you wandering around?” Zinnia frowned at him.

Landon stood motionless, his gaze lowered. He stared at her for a long moment before finally saying, “I just went to the restroom.”

Zinnia’s brows knit tighter as she re-hung his IV bag. Then she brought over the cup of warm water she’d prepared, took out the medication the doctor had prescribed, and handed it to him. “Take your medicine first.”

Without a word, Landon swallowed the pills.

Zinnia quietly sat beside him, scrolling through her phone. Judging by the way she swiped the screen, she was looking through photos. There was a gentle, contented curve to her lips, as if whoever was in those pictures made her genuinely happy.

Landon silently watched the smile that wouldn’t leave her face. Ever since she’d sat down, that faint smile had been there, unwavering.

He couldn’t help but recall the way Zinnia had looked at that man when they said goodbye just now—so much lingering affection in her eyes.

Hmph.

If she was so reluctant to part with him, why didn’t she just stay with him, keep him company for his treatment? Why come back here at all?

A wave of frustration burned in Landon’s chest with nowhere to go.

So, that man—was he the one who always wore that strong cologne? The one who kept texting her even when she was having dinner with Landon, message after message?

He remembered that morning when Zinnia had accidentally played a voice message from that man. Something about an emergency patient needing saving.

So, he was a doctor too? An ER doctor, maybe?

The more Landon thought about it, the more that simmering anger in his chest threatened to boil over.

“Where did you go? Did it really take that long just to get some water?”

Zinnia finally looked up from her phone and glanced at him. “I ran into a friend and chatted for a bit.”

“It’s done,” she reminded him quietly.

She set her phone aside, peeled away the medical tape, and removed the needle from his arm.

“Let’s go.”

“Yeah.” Landon’s reply was low and heavy. He strode out of the infusion room ahead of her, not saying another word.

At the nurses’ station, a nurse called out softly, “Dr. Quinn, Dr. Quinn.”

Zinnia turned. “Yes?”

The nurse nodded toward Landon’s stiff, retreating back, her tone somewhere between amusement and concern. “Did you two have a fight?”

Zinnia blinked in surprise, then chuckled and shook her head. “No.”

“So he’s just sulking, then.”
